Excitement levels for Ghost Stories
Also, I get married the 24th, so...I'm pretty excited about that, too. My fiance is a big Coldplay fan, too (not a member of this forum, though)...so we'll definitely be listening to it that week ;)

Excitement levels for Ghost Stories
I'm really looking forward to it! To be honest, I'm looking forward to some nicer, more acoustic songs. Not that I didn't like Mylo Xyloto (I loved the entire album) but I want to see more of the acoustic side of Coldplay (and more of Chris' awesome piano playing!) But I do feel like, like you said, it crept on us and I haven't had much of a chance to fully realize that we're less than a couple of months away from a new Coldplay album!

What can we do to save the forum?
Part of me is really excited that there's a (good) chance that the forum won't die. But part of me is worried that whoever will own Coldplaying now will mess it up. I hope I'm wrong on the second one.

What can we do to save the forum?
I mean...I want to be optimistic. I love Coldplaying. But I feel like there's really nothing we can do, and there's also no way of knowing what's gonna happen. But I'm happy I got to be a part of this community :)

Always In My Head
I'm gonna have to agree with you. I loved it! It took a few listens, but I really enjoyed it a lot. Maybe not their best opener ever, but it was still good, in my opinion. :)

I'm sorry Tash! It's so well done, though! I think I really like Magic now that it's grown in me.

What can we do to save the forum?
I hate to admit it, but I'm starting to think it wouldn't be such a terrible idea to just start a new site and slowly move everything back to the new one. I dunno...I don't want to see Coldplaying go away. Only Coldplay can save it!

What can we do to save the forum?
Yeah, but maybe a more concrete "This is how much we need to raise, and this is how much we've raised so far" type of thing.

What can we do to save the forum?
Honestly, I would really really love to help with anything regarding Coldplaying. I have a lot of experience in web maintenance (some in web design [which I love], but I mostly work doing web maintenance with different companies and universities [i.e. making sure everything is working and up to date, running tests, making backups]) I wouldn't even want to get paid, I would love to volunteer to do anything to save Coldplaying! I don't think anyone has the money to buy the website, and honestly, it would be pretty tough to just start over. What if there was a way let everyone/anyone chip in some and make some sort of big money pot that can keep the site alive? (Or..yeah..Coldplay could buy the site :P )

What can we do to save the forum?
We could set up some sort of kickstarter or something like that? Or...start a new site and move everyone/everything onto it? I don't want Coldplaying to go away, and it seems very unlikely that: a) anyone has the money to buy it or b) the band would buy it.

Ghost Stories Font!
Hm, I assume you're talking about the font like in the back of the album and stuff (and the band name? I guess I never thought about it, but I did some research and tried to analyze it. It seems to me that the serif font you're talking about looks a lot like in the Franham family (see for example: http://www.fonts.com/font/font-bureau/farnham/text-regular-sc) or even SG Caslon SB (http://www.fonts.com/font/elsner-flake/sg-caslon-sb/regular-sc) Again, neither of those seems to be perfect, perfect, but I compared it to the band name font and the back cover and it seems to be very very close. :) But yeah...it's a nice font, too :) I like Coldplay and their choice of fonts.

Ghost Stories Font!
Hey guys, just letting everyone know (in case anyone cares) that the font Coldplay uses for Ghost Stories (and all other related LP6-era stuff so far) is called: Golden Type ITC Original http://www.fonts.com/font/itc/itc-golden-type#product_top It's honestly one of my favorite fonts I've seen. Different than all the other eras. I look forward to seeing more things with this font.

I am so happy the forum is back...
Hey, since the forum is back up (hopefully forever :P ) I would like to know what you guys think of these two banners I made for Coldplaying for this new Ghost Stories era! and

A Poetic Perspective on Atlas
Hey guys, My fiance has a blog about cool writing and literary things (and other stuff, you guys should check it out!) But here's something she wrote about Atlas: http://writingwindow.wordpress.com/2013/09/16/slant-rhyme-and-greek-mythology-in-coldplays-atlas/ ------------------------- Slant rhyme and Greek mythology in Coldplay’s “Atlas” In the band's newest single "Atlas," Coldplay uses an ABAB rhyme scheme, but interestingly, the Bs are slant rhymes that perhaps underscore the off-ness that the lyrics suggest. But there's still hope for this dismal scene . . . Slant rhymes are odd fellows. A slant rhyme, or a near rhyme, is a rhyme in which the words sound much the same but do not rhyme perfectly like we might expect. For example, cold and old is a perfect rhyme, meaning the sounds of both words rhyme together exactly. However, cold and bolt would be a slant rhyme, since the words sound almost exactly alike, but differ in their ending consonant sound of "d" versus "t." As it turns out, slant rhymes (in particular, those that differ in the consonant sounds of the words) are fairly characteristic of Coldplay. For example, the first stanza of "Paradise" contains two sets of near rhymes: When she was just a girl She expected the world But it flew away from her reach So she ran away in her sleep (Both girl and world and reach and sleep sound similar, but end differently, creating slant rhymes.) In fact, many of their Mylo Xyloto songs also include slant rhymes, such as "Hurts Like Heaven" (heaven, weapon), "Charlie Brown" (dreams, smithereens), "Us Against the World" (eyes, strikes), and "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" (gone, song). In their new song "Atlas," the off-putting slant rhyme is a staple of the lyric structure and continues through both verses of the song, which is a new use of slant rhymes for the band: Verse 1: Some saw the sun Some saw the smoke Some heard the gun Some bent the bow Sometimes the wire Must tense for the note Caught in the fire Say oh, we're about to explode Verse 2: Some far away Some search for gold Some dragon to slay Heaven we hope Is just up the road Show me the way, Lord Cause I'm, I'm about to explode The regularity of the form drops off in this last part, but again, "Atlas" is one of their most extensive uses of slant rhyme in a single song. And what is the effect of it? The song sounds like a more traditional form, maybe even hymn-like at certain moments. Yes, we know that something isn't right with the society painted here, because "Atlas" is part of the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. But the form itself sounds unresolved. Like the people "about to explode," who are stuck in this gun-, smoke-, bow-filled planet, the rhymes are on the verge and eventually lose their wits. Like this world where people hope for heaven, the rhymes are imperfect and leave something to be desired. Who will "carry your world"? Atlas. He was the Greek god who personified endurance, and is often depicted with a globe on his shoulders. To get technical, he had to hold up the heavens to keep them separate from earth (as part of a punishment from Zeus), to carry the weight of the world, literally. Here's cheering for Katniss and the other rebels. ----------------------

Atlas preview (links can be found in the first post)
My short review: This song has so many great qualities about it. It really feels like a mix of their different eras. The chord progression Chris uses on the piano is unlike any other song, and yet it feels so familiar and Moving to Mars sounding. The synths and lovely guitar fills make this song really feel worthy of being in a soundtrack Of course the lyrics are very...Coldplay. Mysterious, and yet beautiful. I tried to look for some kind of criticism to give, but honestly, I really really like this song and I really enjoy it a lot. It's Coldplay.

Official Coldplay Fan Store
The way it works is like craigslist, where a user who wants something has to contact you (send you a pm, email, or, if you choose to give it to them, a phone number.) So, it doesn't need to be paypal.

I disabled profile pics for now. I'm not sure how to make it set your own... They are taken, apparently, from Gravatar or something else. I'm not sure... It's a generic avatar template thing that does that.. About funds...I really don't want to have advertisements all over the place. It just doesn't look good. We'll see, though. It will also depend on traffic and stuff. Anyway, so..yeah! I hope people start using it!
