Heh, "real" acoustics aren't particularly demanding if you have an air conditioned house. If not, then you may have a bit of trouble. As for tuning - it depends on how much you practice. If you practice 1-2 hours a day, then once every 4-6 months is a good interval for tuning. If you practice less than an hour a day, than 6-12 months is a good interval.

Thanks for the welcome, folks.

Go for one of the Yamaha. Ideally, scrap the digital options and go for an acoustic. I've been playing classically (and jazz) for over 12 years, and take it from me - acoustics are a world apart from digitals. I didn't look at your choices in-depth, but make sure you get decently weighted keys. Other than that - make sure you practice, and remember that you learn everything in steps. Just as you wouldn't approach special relativity before doing kinematics, you've got to climb your way up in piano as well. Theory is important, don't neglect it (as much as you want to play Coldplay, classical theory is important too :))

How many languages do you speak?
I'm fluent in two - English and Hindi. I can hold a somewhat decent conversation in French, and I can understand Konkani, Punjabi, and Marathi. Would like to learn Japanese, Persian, and Sanskrit someday, along with brushing up on my French.

Canada, eh?!
12$ for a bloody day pass just in the GTA- for that price I could go from Brussels to Antwerp Not to mention the unnecessarily expensive (and rather inefficient) bus service. It's god-awful, at least out here in the 'burbs

Er...right. "Pop" refers to "popular music". Beethoven can be "pop" if he's popular. So easy there, eh?

I'm a student from Toronto, Ontario. Coldplay is one of the few pop bands I enjoy (a guilty pleasure, you could say), as I'm also a jazz and Western classical musician and am learning Hindustani classical music (and consequently a fan of those streams of music). Nice to meet you folks. -Mahratta
