Ive got seats at Manchester - after hoping in vain for old gent to buy us tickets for a cool european location. What I was wondering, its been sooooo long since I went to a big venue, if you get seats these days, do you actually have to remain seated or does everyone get up? In my day, places like Newcastly City Hall hosted big bands and it was all seating but everyone stood up anyway, gawd I hope me poor old legs can take it!

ARent music critics generally failed musicians? No sour grapes then ...... I do wonder sometimes what the point of critics is, who are these people who think they can tell us what to like and what not to like? Also, the world of music is a very bitchy one, as well as artists there are all sorts of paracitical occupations feeding off them. Which would you rather be? Isnt enjoyment of music very personal and subjective. You like it if it speaks to you. However in the industry there has to be an element of the emperors new clothes, psuedes, the need to be seen in the right circles, like the right music, diss the right music. It is hurtful when people lay into you. If you are basically a decent person with integrity you are bound to be hurt. But I think it wears off and you get your perspective back.

She didnt like him then but all of a sudden when he became rich and famous she found his charm had increased. Strange that. These stories always say more about the writer than the unfortunate victim of their indiscretion.

dont answer the trolls messages its what the troll feeds on. Poor love, youre only encouraging him. Its kinder to let him make his sad little posts, clearly hoping to offend and aggravate but ignore them. You'll upset him a lot more by doing so than by responding to his attention seeking. He needs to learn that nice people dont interact in this way.

cynical old me cant help feel suspicious of someone who comes to a site and makes a comment guaranteed to offend and cause a commotion.... then complains when thats exactly what happens. Course the right thing for the well balanced to do is always ignore such posts... and imagine the poor troll chewing bricks, rolling around the floor in frustration because no-one took the bate. Gives you a warm rosey glow. ahh, the internet where we can all indulge our personality problems with impunity.

voice I love his singing. Great range and a presentation at once real, sincere, touching. Many years since me old ears have been so moved. Best thing since Old Man gave up singing in the bath (it was the woodbines wot did it.)

scientist video Its ace. I suppose we arent talking about the details so as not to spoil it? Fair enough. Just to say its very clever. Friday evenings finds myself and Old Man in the pub and if I spend a whole pound I can watch it along with other favourites on the video juke box. What an invention! I like the Yellow vid too. I like things that are a bit clever, most videos you see are pants. My work colleague tells me that Coldplay will be at the V festival in August. Though I'm a bit old for all this standing in a field all day stuff, I think I might give it a go. As long as I remember me incontinance pants I'll be fine.
