Closest friend lives an hour in other direction so that wouldn't be possible. Me and another friend can go though. He wants to get back home and his plan is to drive back when he has sobered up. He's sitting on a bench waiting to sober up. Can't get through to him as it keeps going to answer machine - dodgy signal where he is. As it stands still don't even know where he is exactly. Other friend who has spoken to him says he sounds like he's coherent. Since he wants to get home I see this as a good sign that he's not going to do anything serious. Closest friend just text this second and she said that she got a laugh out of him and he said he'd get a grip and call back soon.

It's only just occured to me he never drinks, so him being drunk is not the norm. Not actually sure if he's ever been drunk before.

OK, so someone got through to him and he's taking it really badly and is drunk on a bench in the town where he works. Gonna drive up I think. Hour and half away and it'll be middle of night before I see him but wanna get him home. Phone cut off mid sentence so his phone may be out of battery or signal so friend is trying to ring him again and find out exactly where he is before we go.

Hmmm It turns out the message (sent to his best friend, bassist in our band) was 'don't worry I'm going home, you should forget about me... I love you I'm sorry xx' Now I'm less relieved.

He just texted saying he was on his way home. Not sure if that's to the hotel or back home with his Mum or his Dad. Thank fuck for that. Thanks for the advice guys. Appreciated.

His work said he went to his girlfriend's graduation (uni) at 8.30 tonight. (currently 11.07)

Though he's not in my local area so that might not work. I wish I knew exactly where he worked or had a family members number.

It's weird when you think a friend might have killed themselves. Kind of worried. Just made a Facebook status saying 'Goodbye everyone x'. He's recently moved away to be with a girl at short notice. They were almost together for a long time but she was a bit messed up so they were always nearly getting together but then they didn't because she would say no at the last minute. Anyway, about two months ago they went out for a couple of days and then she broke up with him and he was suicidal. Then today he made the following status: “If she's amazing, she won't be easy. I've decided I'm going to say something if I hear something sexist (or racist or homophobic for that matter) instead of staying quiet. This applies to any situation (where it's not going to lead to me getting beat up), even if I know it will lead to ridicule. I'm bored of it.

Bonjour tout le monde! I am about to start learning French. I've been half trying for a while but need to put more effort in and I've just got hold of an audiobook to help me. I figured posting in here will help me too. I'm starting at foundation level so obviously could not type all of this out in French. I know little bits but really not a lot. My biggest problem at the moment is speaking in sentences. I can pick up quite a bit of what others say and know a few words here and there, but when i speak myself I'm always stuck right at the start. Hopefully this will improve. So, er, oui.
