  9. I haz do. Edit: I'm shocked how many people think meshes and textures in games are art but not the storylines themselves. Huh. I mean the storylines are basically like books or movies. I think it's interesting.
  10. Okay then, do you consider storylines to be art? Because novels are generally considered art for their storyline, but typically games aren't. I suppose that's more of what I'm asking, instead of asking about graphics or animation. And by characters, do you mean the characters' actual personality, or their appearance?
  11. Incidentally here are a couple of browser-based games that are basically considered artistic by... basically mostly just Kongregate (there aren't really many of them in all honesty) The Company of Myself (I highly recommend this one, it's really good) Loved ImmorTall (I really don't think this is very good art but it's certainly in the artsy-game category) Gray Aether (Also recommended, it's very good) and some others, but they don't as a rule tend to be popular enough for me to notice, as I'm not a hardcore Kongregator and some others that aren't browser-based: World of Goo is pretty artsy but not on Kongregate Braid is an unbelievably good artsy game but also not on Kongregate Any game by Jenova Chen is bound to be considered artsy, though I've never enjoyed them that much personally Psychonauts I haven't played (I'd really like to though) but the general sentiment is that it's very artistic, according to the gaming community, as far as I can tell And of course, PORTAL, which besides being artistic in its own right I swear to God has got the best writing of any video game, ever. (There are more but I don't care to try to think of them off the top of my head) I think a lot of the reason people don't tend to recognize games as artistic is 1) Most arty games aren't very mainstream because the mainstream audience wants mind-numbing fun/violence/what-have-you, and 2) Elements like storyline, character development, etc, do not typically stick out in peoples minds the way things like GRAFICS, FISICS, and BLOOOOOD do. Like if you play God of War, you aren't going to remember storyline or character development or whatever, you're going to remember all the entrails flying around. (I'm not saying I find God of War to be artistic, fyi, it never seemed like much to me)
