  1. Guys I posted this on tumblr, but I thought I'd put it here as well. It's the advert from which the superfast jellyfish sample is taken from, it's pretty funny! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2BCG4YZy8Y]YouTube - 80's Commercials Vol. 4[/ame]
  2. Agreed, Shani! Ha that's so true! And I love that second picture, the vertical line effect is so awesome!
  3. ^That photo is amazing, I love those rooftop pics! By the way, Happy new year everyone! and @cocklehocker, you asked a while back if you could use a gif I made, of course you can! I make them to share, and I'll post a few others I've made on my tumblr soon! :)
  4. I'm (several days) late to the party (I hadn't had many chances to go online recently), but fhjdfhsdhfs The Fall! Before hearing it, I was kind of using democrazy as a marker of what it might sound like, and was expecting it to be pretty minimal and sketchy, not that that would necessarily be a bad thing, but the songs definitely seem to have more depth than I was expecting. I'm liking it a lot. Also, despite the simplicity of the recording, there's so much creativity and resourcefulness there, I think. For example, I love the use of the telephone interference thing, the station annoucement, etc. I'd probably be able to say more when I've heard it a couple more times, but I'd say my favourites at the moment are- Little pink plastic bags Amarillo Aspen Forest Revovling Doors California+the slipping of the sun I completely agree, I really like the whole experimention with different ways of producing and releasing music. It's so interesting to have a chance to listen to something quite spontaenously created- it's like looking at an artist's sketchbook, or as you said a diary. I like thinking of it as a diary actually, as it really seems to capture the on the road, travelling feel. I also really like hearing the way songs evolve, and since you mentioned Broken, I love the way that song was expanded on in the hypnotic brass version! That is the epic ending that song deserves imo!
  5. I love their sense of humour :laugh3: It is being released at Christmas?? Cue excitement!! I know right, it's so exciting! :) These could be clues relating to the tour album, which I guess would make sense if it's release is coming up on/around Christmas, hence the pictures of roads (taken on the tour perhaps?).
  6. Yeah that is true about the wanting attention thing... perhaps you're right, I was just being wary of internet fakes and the like. And awww those Damon pictures! Supporting his Gra <3 Yeah you're right, it is best to be careful since we can't be sure either way. Seriously, of all the people to find the damon fandom! Oh god what did they ask Denholm?? And yay guys I successfully made a gif from that interview! Yay adorable facial expressions- I need to go on a hunt for more gifable moments in other videos now...
  7. ^Omg, I'm skeptical as to whether it's her though, I mean all the info on her page seems really obvious (eg. putting vampire weekend there, as one of the only recent pictures of her is of her watching them at glasto)...but that could just be my cynicism... also 11 seems pretty young to be getting a tumblr, hmmm. Then again who makes fake tumblrs for people's relatives?! That's the internet for you  As to what you can do, maybe there's some way of making certain posts private just in case?? I'm not sure!
  8. Guys I've been reading your reviews and they're all great, man I'm going to miss hearing strories from this tour when it's over! Perrine, your pictures are so good! I love the dress Yukimi's wearing on the night of your show, and her outfits in general- she's got such a unique style. No way, that's amazing! how did your manager bring that about? Interesting to hear of the possibiltiy of 2011 shows too... Ooh that's for the show being broadcast in France right? I'm gonna have to see if I can watch that somehow. Also, I'm well excited about this advent calender thing From the webiste- "Tis the season to be Mary... Blah, blah, Bah Humbug, blah....! Insert your own jovial Xmas bull***t here." :laugh3: I wonder what the last day's surprise is?... Imagine if it was the rhinestone eyes video, and EMI had just been building up the suspense by fuelling rumours of it's cancellation, while the video is actually being finished. Oh and there's bonus details of the new album. Nope, not unrealistic at all. :D
  9. Argh I hadn't been on here in a little while- just catching up! Hello Grace and Haley!! I'm Amy. Haley, I recognise your name from reading a couple of your fabulous stories! You are awesome! And your Damon+top hat picture brings me joy. And there's all these new meeting Damon pictures making appearances! Perrine and Loudefix, I am so happy for you guys and look forward to hopefully hearing your stories. :) These are great! 'Dolphins in the sky with rhinestones'! :laugh3: And the Simon Cowell one! I love that he's watching blur play on stage, as if he's about to judge them lol. Ahh his facial expressions in interviews are hilarious! I saw this one and thought someone should make a gif of the eye-roll/smile he does at around 1.15...it's adorable: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kguRS2rdL4M&feature=more_related]YouTube - Damon Albarn Interview on Hints At Blur Reunion,on Shaun Ryder,Simon Cowell And on X Factor[/ame] I need to learn how to make gifs, these are essential skills I am lacking!
  10. ^ Thanks for your story! I know what you mean about the album tracks- I read a comment from someone saying that they'd heard someone say they should've ended on feel good inc+ clint eastwood, but I think demon days is the most perfect ending- and going to a gig isn't just about hearing the singles! Some people just seem to view the hits as the 'crowd pleasers' and disregard the rest, but they are seriously missing the point of going to a gig and of the band itself if that's the case! As for the future of Gorillaz, I am so glad they've enjoyed this tour and I hope it inspires future albums/tours! I'd love to see where it'd go from plastic beach and what new ideas and concepts there could be... Ly- Here's some more live lounge stuff (which you guys will probably have seen but just in case) Here's On Melancholy Hill [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iODSZL7XkQ]YouTube - Gorillaz - "On Melancholy Hill" (BBC Radio 1 - Live Lounge)[/ame] And Doncamatic [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmrs2neAgGQ]YouTube - Gorillaz - "Doncamatic" Feat. Daley (BBC Radio 1 - Live Lounge)[/ame] Yes, a dvd would be wonderful! Excitement! Which show are you going to? I am now going to live vicariously through other people's gig tales...
  11. Thank you so much for your welcomes guys! I posted my story on the gorillaz thread, alas it doesn't include any tales of meetings, though I did try! Lizzy- Aw I'm glad you recognise my name, I need to post more on tumblr though, but I love yours, it's always full of awesome! Ly- lol at the coldplay forum thing, though I don't dislike coldplay at all, it is funny that this thread has become it's own entity within a forum for an unrelated band! Kelly- I was at Sunday's show as opposed to Tuesday's like you, but I'm glad you had fun! and I will head over to the gorillaz thread asap and read your story! Space- I will follow your tumblr when I go on there in a bit :) ^ Ooh I thought I'd point out that this was totally at the show I went to!! I'm glad it was captured on camera for posterity :sneaky:
  12. Your pictures are gorgeous! Were you at the Amsterdam show? I can't believe they travelled to Amsterdam and performed another show in the last few hours- all I've done today is recover from last night, reminisce about last night, and write about last night!! Haha.
  13. Ok so here is my Gorillaz show collection of highlights/story/review: The whole show was fantastic, I enjoyed every song, even those which aren't my favourites sounded incredible live, and I danced and cheered so much aaah, I must've looked insane. Highlights included- De la Soul's enthusiasm throughout the whole show The brass section for Broken, which added even more awesome to a song I already love Mick's dancing to the Syrian orchestra Paul's effortless coolness and guitar mastery The strings section on Clint Eastwood, which is genius The inclusion of Punk!!, Plastic Beach!! Tomorrow Comes Today! which were all ace The stained glass window visuals for Demon Days, and that song as a stunning ending in general Damon's energy throughout- there were these speakers in front of the stage and he was jumping from one to another!! And also jumping on Cass's drumkit and other crazy antics! Glitter Freeze sounded so good live, there was a kind of crescendo of all the instruments towards the end which sounded awesome. Bobby Womack was on top form too. White Flag was great- the bit where the syrian orchestra goes into Kano and Bashy's bit was so great. Donacamatic sounded really good too, and I think it got quite a good reception given that it's really new still...yep I pretty much loved it all. I mean, I'd seen so many videos of their live performances, and heard stories from this tour, but seeing it right there just made me appreciate the songs tenfold becasue you could see and hear all the creativity that went into making them, and the skill and passion of the musicians playing and singing. Everyone on stage looked so into what they were doing, it was wonderful. If I remember any other bits I will post!
  14. Hello everyone! I'd been wanting to join this forum for a while, cos it seems like there's a really nice group of you here- I know/recognise a couple of you already from tumblr...Shani, Lizzy and cocklehockler (=ihocklecockles, yes? unless that's merely a crazy coincidence!) There might be more of you I'm not aware of? I'm on tumblr with the same username, though you'd be forgiven for not knowing me much from there as I haven't been on there very much recently, and I rarely post about myself or anything! But yes, it's nice to meet you all! My name's Amy by the way. Oh and it is very relevant that I'm posting today as last night was my turn to see Gorillaz in London sdjfhakjhalkjshfakjhf. So I am just in the process of writing up as many memories from the show and I will post it here/or maybe the Gorillaz thread as it's more appropriate.. later tonight. Aah it was so amazing you guys, but yes, I will elaborate on that later.
