  1. “And Martin gave Paltrow a break-up gift, too: a painting of a bird in flight by Mila Fürstová to mark a new freer stage in their lives.” http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/gwyneth-paltrow-and-chris-martin-split-goop-has-never-seen-so-much-action-website-crashes-due-to-sheer-demand-as-conscious-uncoupling-announced-9216266.html?dkdkd As others have noted, this separation has been a process lasting “well over a year”. It looks like the album art has a personal connection as well—seeing as this is the same artist. First and foremost, Ghost Stories is a Coldplay record. Coming in close second, this will be a compilation of Chris writing his heart out during these dark times.
  2. Four out of nine Ghost Stories tracks have been [publicly] performed. In all four of those tracks, the subject matter is about two people being apart. Clearly, the focus of the album is on life after a separation. Obviously, Ghost Stories is fiction. Regardless, I’m sure we’ll get a glimpse of Chris’ perceptions about life during this tough time.
  3. I wouldn't stress about CD bonus tracks. They'll be uploaded and easy to get. Vinyl is much more annoying. My "A Spell A Rebel Yell" mp3 sounds pretty goofy. I feel like you would need the actual vinyl to hear it right.
  4. I love how this album jumps right into the action. We start with an aching, passionate love song and the story just builds from there. If you’re into the whole “concept album” thing, then this record starts right at the good part. No introductions or anything. Head first into a frenzy of emotion. My guess is that the entire record is about two souls that are inseparable. Regardless of either character’s choices, or how hard they try, going back to being separate people just isn’t possible.
  5. I think its important to note that last night was only 50 min of material. They clearly didn't play the "biggest" song on the album, and they didn't play all of their "hits" either. This was an exclusive sneak peak of their upcoming album/tour. Coldplay spent the entire summer of 2011 playing festivals and building Every Teardrop into the anthem that it is today. Eventually this morphed into the MX tour and it was their biggest, brightest, most powerful show yet. There's no way that Coldplay could match that energy right away. Like the last record, they will slowly build up the show as songs get released. Eventually there will be a 90 min performance that will blow your socks off. Trust Me.
  6. 42 seems to tackle the same themes as this album... My guess is at least one track will have a similar sound/lyrics.
  7. Seeing as "Magic" describes a moment where the couple has broken up, perhaps one of them dies before they can reconcile? The other is left to sort things out on their own... that would be an intense premise for a character to grow/transform!
  8. Given the fact that Chris was rubbing paint over his naked torso in the Midnight video, I'd say that yeah they'll be creative onstage for this one too:)
  9. I think timing is a considerable factor as well. Mylo Xyloto was PURE TORTURE because we had a summer of Festivals Shows (a.k.a low quality bootlegs of half the album), then an October release. The only true B-Side was Moving to Mars which came out before the album. Nothing after. For Ghost Stories, we get 2 songs, the SXSW show this month, and then a May release. Any B-sides or alternate versions of live songs are yet to come. And as always, their live shows usually feature some re-imagination of past material (Think of all 3 versions of God Put a Smile Upon Your Face). I doubt it will be 9 songs and they're finished. Thats just not Coldplay!
  10. There are certainly many ways to get a similar sound. There are many threads on this topic, and software is the easiest way for players to match that sound. Unfortunately, this thread shows a video where Coldplay's piano technician reveals the hardware running Chris' rig. Have they tried other equipment at times? I'm sure, but this looks like their permanent set up. No software running Chris' piano.
  11. 'I have a friend called Dave Nally who is a complete genius… He is a guy who works for a company called Funky Junk in London and he gutted that keyboard for us and built us a couple of rack units. ' -Miller You're exactly right. Its the actual instrument inside a custom rack, not a sampled version of the keyboard.
  12. Mp9000 Examples Just a few examples of Coldplay using the Kawai Mp9000: Miller describes it as a "Fender Rhodes sized instrument". This is definitely what he was talking about:) Trouble (Live @ Jools Holland 2000): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21s4PFNZoiw]Coldplay - Trouble (Live Jools Holland 2000) - YouTube[/ame] Trouble (Live @ Glastonbury 2000): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVldBcVEcK0]Coldplay Trouble Live 2000 - YouTube[/ame] Till Kingdom Come (Live in Toronto 2006, Twisted logic Tour): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBXvl7thiDM]Coldplay - Till Kingdom Come & Ring Of Fire (Toronto 2006) HD - YouTube[/ame] It's pretty funny that a keyboard from 1999 was the heart of the entire Viva Tour (And almost certainly MX too). It just goes to show that there's no point to getting caught up in gear, because even millionaires just find a simple sound they like and stick with it.
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a HUGE breakthrough, yeah?? If you search "Coldplay piano sound", you will find forum after forum going through the paces on this topic. In the end, everyone seems to say "It's an upright with a bit of reverb." Chris plays the sound from a Kawai Mp9000 - End of story! Thanks guys:) P.S. Does anyone else find it strange that Miller won't say the keyboard type but "Mp9000 Rac" is written right on the front?
  14. Yeah I'm still pretty confused. It's an inspiring album made for anyone to enjoy, though I can't help but sense there could have been something bigger here. If you're going to make an intense concept album, why not go all the way? As a rock album I'm in awe of MX's brilliance, but as a narrative these comics leave just as many questions as they answer.
  15. A few immediate thoughts on Fly and Mylo...
  16. Oh this issue is the worst wait ever… Where is my comic?!? Haha can't wait until this whole thing is over and we can finally have closure on the MX era:)
  17. If you flip through the comics, you'll notice that his clothes/overall look changes slightly as well… There are many artists working on the series and I think page-to-page is just an interpretation of the story. The limited edition Comic-Con issue has a pretty unique depiction of fly:) Personally, I love the abstract nature of the unpredictable art!
  18. After hours of arguing over dinner, Chris Martin and JAYZ walk into a London pub. Chris Martin hands the bartender a roll of bills, and explains that him and Jay are having a martini drinking contest. "Keep them coming!" yells Chris. Round one, the bartender makes two HUGE red martinis. "What flavor is this?" asks JayZ. "England's best Strawberry Martini," the gentleman explains. Both chug their drinks, then they're ready for round two. Next, the bartender presents two blue martinis in the same large glasses. "What flavor is this?" asks JayZ. "England's best Raspberry Martini." Although a bit slower, Chris and JayZ stay neck-in-neck while chugging their drinks. Finally, the bartender hands the boys two dark brown martinis, sloshing around in beer mugs. Chris chuckles and JayZ looks petrified. "Do you want to know what this one is?" Chris asks with a quirky grin. "I'm kind of scared to find out. I should probably just get it over with." says JayZ. Both boys start their drinks, but Jay immediately stops and dashes to the bathroom. A few moments later, he stumbles back into the room with a look of pure shame. The bartender and Chris smile. "It's okay, not everyone can handle Glaston-berry."
  19. Fat!?! Look at those muscles! (Sorry I've never posted in this section before, I'm not sure the exact protocol for commenting on the band members bodies)
  20. Your guitar looks awesome Danny, glad to hear it worked out:)
  21. Coldplay can be a bit morbid, eh?
  22. Thanks for the support everybody. Glad to contribute here anyway I can...
