  1. Here's my review of the Mylo Xyloto: Mylo Xyloto 7/10 Still a great sound, although i actually prefer the live version Hurts Like Heaven 9/10 I really like the editing to this song, it sets the tone for the rest of the album Paradise 10/10 This song (along with others) sounds much better in context, truly suprised me how much more i liked it in the album than on its own. Charlie Brown 9/10 Great riff, great track, and the piano at the end is fantastic Us Against the World 10/10 One of my favorites from the festivals and the addition of the electric guitar in the beginning was a nice touch MMIX 8/10 It sets up ETIAW very nicely Every Teardrop is a Waterfall 9/10 Once again, I felt this song was better in context Major Minus 10/10 Maybe its because I'm not listening to it by itself, but I heard some differences in this version, and I liked it UFO 10/10 This was a throwback, something straight out of Parachutes, I give Coldplay credit for sticking to their roots. Also the beat at the end was phenominal Princess of China 8/10 I didn't like this one on the first listen by itself, yet after the flow from UFO, this song sounded much better and Rhianna's part was done well Up in Flames 9/10 The bass at first kinda threw me off, but once the piano started, it was a really great song A Hopeful Transmission 6/10 I felt this transition was redundant and I "hoped" for a lot more out of this/ Granted it was very short but I was expecting a completely different sound. The transition from UiF to AHT was the only thing that threw me off. I feel like they need one more song in between those to make the transition a little better. Don't Let It Break Your Heart 9/10 Really great tune, very upbeat and joyful. Up with the Birds N/A I feel like just giving this song a 10/10 doesn't do it justice for what i felt after it ended. I gave 4 other perfect scores to songs but those combined don't even come close to this song. My favorite lines were "send me up to that wonderful world / and then im up withhhh...the birds" and "A simple plot / but I know one thing / good things are coming our way / ohh yeahhh" then the piano fade out. I was completely speechless when the song ended. Mylo Xyloto 10/10 ----- Overall best Coldplay album ever
  2. Surprises: That little ending to UFO was awesome, UWTB was the perfect ending Disappointments: awkward transition from Up in Flames to AHT, i think they needed something else there Still this album was fantastic 10/10
  3. No i agree, there really isn't any powerful emotional bond to those songs, but i don't think that was the point of those two songs. I think those songs were written just to promote the album and to attract new listerners who wouldn't want to buy a coldplay song. By this I mean fans of rhianna and other pop artists who will now at least buy princess of china to hear how her song sounds. Besides, based on the rolling stone article flotting around here that quoted Will saying up in flames may be one of his favorite songs they've ever written, i highly doubt the album will be a flop and I have faith that coldplay knows what it is doing.
  4. First off, everyone is going to have their own personal favorite coldplay songs, and I think that is what makes them great. Remember, coldplay's first "hit" song was Yellow ... with lyrics like "and they were all yellow" Even coldplay themselves claims they don't even know what that song means, but it was fun and catchy so it gained popularity. I doubt many people on here were attracted to coldplay based on "ode to deodorant", most of us were hooked based on the radio hit songs like yellow etc. Then we discovered when we got the entire albums that they wrote incredible songs like spies, don't panic, etc. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, Paradise and this album Mylo Xyloto follow in this same path. Lyrically, the only "radio hit" coldplay songs that have any substantial value, imo, are clocks and viva la vida. Everything else is simply meant to have a good melody and gain worldwide attraction. For people who haven't heard of coldplay, but listen to contemporary pop/rock music on the radio, then both those songs might have the same effect "yellow" did on the new listeners. They will buy Mylo Xyloto and realize coldplay also wirtes songs like charlie brown and hurts like heaven and become possible lifelong fans. Also, and I'm not defending the lyrics, but there is more to etiaw then "wa wa wa wa waterfall" In regards to the question of how that lyric fits into a concept album...it doesn't, but that's why it is a "lyric" and not the "entire song." Based on it's placement in the album, it does sorta sum up components of the first half of the album, with lines such as "my 'heart starts beating' 'all the kids they dance'(cb) 'heaven is in sight' (hlh). Although these lyrics may not have the substance and emotional meaning of songs like Politik, they do fit with the concept of the story. As for Paradise, same terms apply, however this time, it is introducing the female character and alludes to her desires, which i'm assuming will a major theme to the latter half of the album.
  5. I kinda understand why it was left off cause coldplay said the album was going to have a happy ending. I bet on one of those four tracklists they had laid out, Moving to Mars was for sure a closer to the album. But that would have ended the album on a somber note, like how the two main characters may never see each other or the earth again. Just placing MTM in the album just to have it there would probably throw off the flow and storyline of the album. But i think its a great song and I'm glad we got a studio version of it. btw imo, the ep kinda feels like a mini storyline to me, goes from happy, upbeat (etiaw) to dark (mm) then to sad and emotional (mtm) maybe thats just me idk but i can see why moving to mars was left off the lp
  6. I will be listening to them on friday. I've discovered that when I listen to these new era coldplay songs for the first time, I can't really give them a rating on the first listen. Like with Paradise yesterday, first time around I was like "well this is different" but by the second and third times I was like "wow this is a great new sound" The more get to hear to the songs on this album, the more I feel I will enjoy them when I listen to the whole album for the first time
  7. :shocked2: wow really a great surprise today. 14 tracks?!?! so excited!
  8. I think all this "negativity" has come from a build-up of anxiety, and not a patronization of the band. Since this era is based on graffiti art and such, the "hidden" messages and clues on the album cover, twitter, and coldplay.com caused an eclectic variety of opinions, which has caused these "hypothetical" controversies. Some people guess at the name of DLIBYH while others badger it for having a bad title when we don't even know what it is yet. But I think this negativity is rooted in the anitcipation of a legit annoucement of song titles and a tracklist (two things that is very important on this site). Once these requests have been fulfilled, I think for a few weeks the negative comments will subside...that is until the countdown until the album rolls around in mid-october and the anxiety skyrockets once again.
  9. Could you please give more specific details than before regarding what you heard from the two snippets? I'm asking because for the sake of this site's legitimacy, I really hope you are telling the truth and that these snippets are not other parts of your imagination.
  10. Maybe its just me but i posted mine because 1.) its a thread entitled the tracklisting and 2.) because if i'm right, then i'll have evidence on the thread. Guessing the tracklist is kinda like the ncaa march madness brackets where everyone picks their teams even though they have no idea who's going to win or lose. So i guess you're right, if others are like myself, they are simply submitting their "brackets" on here and not really reading anything else
  11. My guess at the tracklist: 1. Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven 2. Princess of China 3. Major Minus 4. U.F.O (hidden A Hopeful Transmission) 5. Charlie Brown 6. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall 7. Paradise 8. Us Against the World (hidden Up with the Birds) 9. Up in Flames 10. DLIBYH
  12. didn't X&Y have 4 "T's?" i think the T's were Talk, The hardest part, Twisted logic and Till kingdom come...maybe they dont count "the" as a t, but i don't see why the couldn't have 4 U's on the album
  13. I want to go to your college lol....i'm in college and i can't check it either :(
  14. ^ yes i completely agree. Plus i thought i saw on here that paradise is free when you pre-order mylo xyloto on itunes...and usually the tracklist is revealed when you pre-order albums so we should get it by sept 12th at the latest!
  15. Yes I remember that because I think I agreed with you. But now, after listening the 1 min clip... just look at my avatar! haha
  16. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPG3zSgm_Qo]A Charlie Brown Christmas - Christmas Time is Here Song - YouTube[/ame] is this the theme song you were talking about?...cause this is the only song from the Charlie Brown christmas special that sounds somewhat similar to the outro
  17. Viva was 13 tracks in like 45 mins with the shortest song being LiT at 2:29 so i think it's possible
  18. It's possible, but after hearing that sky one advert clip of charlie brown, it seems like there's a piano outro to the studio version of cb. I guess that's why they always played life is for living after cb in the live shows cause apparently, what i thought to be a piano bridge between the two songs is actually the ending to charlie brown. Yet who knows maybe the sky tv people could have edited charlie brown, but you are right...it seems like etiaw begins with a transition from another song.
  19. I am not crazed, I am not rude, and I am not hateful. All ridiculous accusations. I am a fan, who like all other fans, has waited a long time for this new album. I am not going to bicker back and forth with you in regards to what you feel to be a personal crusade, which in reality, was simply some constructive criticism on your thread post. There is no "holier than thou act" I'm sure I am looking forward to Mylo Xyloto as much as you are cause I have a feeling it might be their best one yet...however, I just want the real thing.
  20. ^ if that is all you got out of my last post...you completely missed the main point of what i was saying
  21. That sounds like an insult of character to me, but I digress...just don't start anymore erroneous threads here okay?...the album comes out 2 months from today...we waited 3 + years for this moment...i think we can all hang in just a little longer
  22. Don't know if anyone has said this but i think i see birds flying in the bottom right corner of the artwork above ^
  23. I don't understand... If you wrote the lyrics yourself then why did you open this thread leading people to believe they were coldplay's lyrics?? You wonder why people give harsh responses. I thought the lyrics were good, but the fact that they have nothing to do with the band makes this thread quite annoyingly frivolous. Next time, just open up thread saying that you wrote the lyrics in a class, rather than spreading false rumors that they could be a new cp song
  24. I can kinda see what you mean. I tried playing the new coldplay songs on the piano by ear, and a majority of them have similar chords played in similar keys, so you are right. Not to get off topic but the beginning of the charlie brown melody and the piano section of mtm right before "8 to 9 9 to 10" are played really similar on the piano, just to give another example to your theory
