The Tracklisting
i agree, just like they did with Life in Technicolor and CoL as well as VLV and Violet Hill, the same chords/sound transitioning into the next song. I think they will do a lot of that on the next album to add to the cohesiveness of it.

The Tracklisting
I really like the other plausible tracklists but I've had this storyline in mind for a while now and I figured I'd release it and see if people think this could be the plot 1. Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven The xylophone sounds linger into a song which introduces the protagonist, a man who is lost in the dark and difficult times street life. He looks around at the graffiti of the walls and the park to realize that in order to express himself and his desires; he must use his heart and a spray-can soul. 2. Charlie Brown The protagonist is a novice to the street life yet begins to steal and joins a gang known as the lost boys, or the car kids. The song echoes the peanuts character Charlie brown, since it seems as if he glows in the dark and cannot stay out of the antagonist's eye. 3. Princess of China Tells a story of how the antagonist lost the one he cared for due to his treacherous ways. In the songs, it exclaims that the love could have been a princess and lives in a castle, but she let him go, which leaves the antagonist alone on his quest to clear the streets. 4. Major Minus It introduces the antagonist with its ominous and thunderous beat, coupled with the eerie guitar solo. The song elicits that one eye is always watching the lost boys gang and the big brother figure (1984) sends out its gang to find and destroy the protagonist 5. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall The song begins triumphantly as the protagonist has gotten the hang of street-life, with the kids dancing, and now the antagonist’s love coming to join the lost boys. The protagonist tells her that every tear is a waterfall and that they will soar walls together, trying to escape the oppression. 6. Paradise An anthem of a song regarding a perfect world. A place where all evil is rid of and the people of the world rejoice and live in harmony. The protagonist proclaims this theory to the lost boys and his take on a perfect world. 7. Up in Flames The lost boys’ gang is in flames as the big brother’s team infiltrates their location and takes them hostage. The princess turns on them and flees with the antagonist, leaving the lost boys to face the consequences on their own. 8. Up with the Birds Trapped in the cellar of the antagonist, the main character sees the birds and wishes he could fly up with them and soar out the cell that he and the lost boys are in. 9. A Hopeful Transmission/U.F.O After leaving with the antagonist, the love interest attempts to get a transmission out to the lost boys, telling them that she is coming to rescue them with supplies and materials from the antagonist. U.F.O then chronicles her appearance as if a flying spaceship at night, going to rescue the lost boys in the cell. 10. Us Against the World/Tomorrow The song begins in the morning after the princess came to rescue the lost boys. While sitting in the cell, the protagonist states that he knows the brutality of the previous nights that it will happen again tonight so he wishes that they can fly up to the surface. The concluding song, Tomorrow, describes the escape and the victory over the oppression.

Tracks that may make the album based on the concept (Really long, sorry, i get really into things li
I think people are so interested in the tracklisting because we have 5 or so songs that we have already listened to, which have all conveyed themes and motives that are paramount for the upcoming album. On top of that, other potential track titles have been released, which gives people enough information in order to attempt to create their own ideas for what the lp may look like. It kinda reminds me of ncaa march madness brackets, where there is really no chance of knowing who's going to win and who's going to finish where, but we all fill out our brackets to see how close we get to the actual outcome. That's my opinion

The Tracklisting
Yeah you're right, in that interview Dave Holmes said that they all agreed on the album being under 50 min. But I could have sworn I heard from somewhere on here their goal was to make the album 42.5 min. Anyway, maybe I'm wrong, we'll just have to wait and see

The Tracklisting
i didn't make up the rules or the time constraint, coldplay said the album would be 42.5 min in the recent interview. And it's not that i don't want hurts like heaven on the the album, it's one of my favorite new songs. It will just be interesting how they fit all these songs in. They'll need, like someone said, a couple short songs if they are going to include etiaw, hlh, cb, and uatw, all 4+ min songs, on the album.

The Tracklisting
In regards to my favorite songs, I just want coldplay to include the songs that best fit the theme of the album and move the story along. I agree with you, sonnyianni, poc and hlh are my favorite of the new songs, and I find charlie brown to be on the same level as "in my place," which to me is a song that's good, but not at the level of a classic. For the tracklist, i wouldn't mind having all the festival songs on the ep, however, i think that is unlikely. From the recent news that hlh may not make the album, here's my opinion as to why it might not. I think a) coldplay has to include etiaw on the ep based on its international popularity and connection with the other songs, which leaves roughly 38.5 min on the album. b) hlh is also over 4 min, and i think this will be another "glass of water" case, where it's a fantastic song, but had to be left off the ep for time constraints.

Do you think 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' will be on LP5?
thescientist354 replied to busybeeburns's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)i think it will be on the ep as the album's opener. The more i listen to it, the more i can hear the allusions to the other potential songs that could be on mylo xyloto. For instance..."my 'heart' start beating to my favorite song" (charlie brown). "All the 'kids' they dance, and the 'kids all night" (car kids?). "Until monday morning" (tomorrow?). "And 'heaven' is in sight"; "you can't hurt me bad" (hurts like heaven). "as we soar" (up with the birds?). "emerge blinking into" (U.F.O?). "Every siren" (major minus). Also there's a similar ending to PoC in which there a repeat of the same word or phase. In etiaw, the repeat is et..et..etiaw, in Poc the repeat is..."so anybody...anybody..etc" I might be a little off on the last one but i do see a basic connection with the other songs.
