  1. Sorry that was me :( I tried to avoid songs I'd bought through iTunes to try to reduce the copyright issues but obviously failed a bit. If you want I could send you the track listings so you could at least listen to a few of the songs on YouTube or something??
  2. My review!!! Hello!! Sorry this is so late, have only just really had a chance to listen to my mix tape! Also because of copyright issues on mediafire I had to find the track info then just youtube them so probably didn't get the full feel of the tape, but this is just my reaction to the songs. Thank you so much for making it, whoever you are!!!! 1) Cool intro, changes completely as it goes into the actual song! Nice tempo, good beat and really got me head bopping I have to be honest!! Kind of techno/disco feel which I quite liked as it isn’t my usual music style. Haven’t heard the band before either and really like the lead vocals. Very easy to get sucked into the beat. 2) This one sounds so retro: as one of my family commented it sounds a bit like an 80s Michael Jackson and I have to agree! It’s nice though as I haven’t heard a style like this for a while. Pretty cool!! 3) The intro instrument sounds kind of like a traditional South American xylophone!! Really wasn’t expecting that, but really works with the tone of the song and the rest of the instruments. Nice fast pace, finding it very hard not to repeat myself but these are great songs so far! The lyrics are also really interesting if you listen to them a few times, and on the bridge in the middle with the chorus singing it sounds so cool! Very impressed with this one. 4) Love the chilled guitar intro, sounds sort of right and wrong at the same time with the weird key!! Reminded me a bit of a band I’m really into at the moment called Yellowcard (check them out) and a bit of 30 seconds to Mars. I like the way that the backing is pretty simple: just drums and a couple of light guitars but it really works. Builds up a ot to a pretty awesome guitar solo near the end though. Me likey. 5) I actually have the album that this is from, however it’s not one of the ones I know best from it so was really interested to see this one. Lovely guitar chords, sort of melancholy mood but manages to escape being depressing. Also the lyrics are so lovely. God I’d forgotten how much I like this song. The chorus is haunting: really, properly emotional. Acts as a really nice slow piece in the tape. Greatly enjoyed. 6) For some reason made me think of Africa which is a good thing: was out there last summer so brought back memories!! Again I know quite a few one republic songs but not this one so I was pleased to see this. The blend of synths and techno in the chorus with the basic drums and guitar sounds amazing, and I love how the song keeps building from relatively calm at the beginning to a proper rousing chorus at the end!! I guess this is a relatively new release because I really haven’t heard of it before but I’m going to go and buy the album now!! 7) Now I’d normally say that you can’t go wrong with a bit of The Beatles, but I have to admit that this isn’t one of my favourites. Sorry, but it’s the truth. 8) Heard of this before but have never actually heard it. Didn’t really click with me for some reason: the guitar I found a little samey and couldn’t really relate to it somehow. I played it to a friend who loved it though so I guess that’s just me!! 9) Well this one is different!! I like deadmau5 though, and am pretty sure I’ve heard it before though I’m not sure. I think it’s nice that it has no vocals; you can just kind of get lost in the piano and beat. I enjoyed this but not sure why exactly!! 10) Ok so during the intro I wasn’t sure whether I was in a choral concert or listening to the soundtrack to a video game, but as the bassline started coming in it started getting interesting. Wouldn’t normally think of this as my kind of song but I quite liked it actually: weirdly enough my favourite bit was the bit of synth-stuff between a couple of the verses!!! 11) Felt like a mixture of the beach boys and a Japanese cartoon theme tune!! Despite the name it’s a proper feel good song, I can imagine it being good to work out to: I might try tomorrow (or I could sit at home and listen to it again…..hard choice). Wouldn’t say it’s my favourite of the tape but still cool!! 12) This one’s a proper dance tune: got to love a bit of Calvin Harris! What else can I say apart from this really gets you up and moving. 13) This is right up my street. Really enjoyable backing: simple but works well with the tune. Also really like this guy’s voice so will be listening to more of him. Like the lyrics too: really enjoyed this one!! 14) Lovely lovely Maroon 5- can always rely on them to make a chilled song completely and utterly engaging and amazing. I know this song pretty well so I can’t really comment on it other than to say that I love it! 15) Ok so aside from Lenny Kravitz being one of the coolest people ever to exist, this is an awesome song!! Such a catchy guitar entry, love his voice it’s so raw and powerful!! Brilliant showman and musician makes a brilliant song. Not much else to say!! 16) The intro makes me think of a back alley in Brooklyn somewhere, maybe a dingy bar: really atmospheric. I’ll be honest daft punk isn’t my favourite: it’s fine as background noise but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to listen to it. Still quite a cool song though. I like the backing track. 17) And how could you end a coldplay forum mix tape without….coldplay. UFO is one of my personal favourites (well I say that, I have far too many for it to be properly meaningful) but I think it’s one of their most underrated songs. It’s so raw and emotional, I love the way you can feel the squeaking of the guitar strings as he changes notes. I always play this one to my friends who don’t know coldplay that well because I think if you only ever hear the mainstream ones like ETIAW, Paradise, Viva etc (don’t get me wrong I love them) you don’t fully realise how amazing the band is. Phoenix- If I ever feel better Neon Trees- Weekend Friendly Fires- Pull me back to earth Incubus- adolescents M83- Wait OneRepublic- What you wanted The Beatles- Something Dave Matthews Band- Crash Into me Deadmaus- Sleepless Foster the people- Warrant The Flaming Lips- Sun blows up today Calvin Harris- Thinking about you John Mayer- Heartbreak Warfare Maroon 5- Beautiful goodbye Lenny Kravitz- Where are we runnin? Daft Punk- Something about us Coldplay- UFO
