what's it function? I mean, its vital function? as long as I know, there isn't any... There's a whole debate about its functionality though. and babies could die of it, just as anyone could die in any ambulatory medical procedure... I don't see what's your point there. Once again. That's not my point. And I'm not saying I'm in favor of it... just mentioning some proven medical advantages of it. That's it.

That's not my logic... that was my parent's logic and the logic from the scientific-medical community in the late 80's when I was born as they thought it was better for hygienic reasons... and it certainly provides a better protection against urinary and sexually transmited diseases. And nobody would ever consider to remove babies tonsils since there's some evidence that they might be involved in their inmunitary response... unlike the prepuce, which doesn't have any clearly important function. So I think your comparision is faulty. But I totally understand there might be some ethical issues related to it. I also think men should be able to decide wheter they want it or not. Fortunately for those who didn't have a choice (for cultural, religious or any other reasons), it doesn't represent any big problem.

I have it. As far as I know there isn't any Jewish or Muslim background in my family. I never really asked my parents about it, but I guess it was made because of the health benefits they thought it had (lowering urinary infections, etc). I don't think it has brought me any problem in my life... so it's a really normal thing for me. And I don't think one can even compare it to female genital cutting which is clearly barbaric.
