[20-Dec-2010] Crisis: Coldplay in Newcastle (JOURNAL TYNE THEATRE, WESTGATE RD)
The snow over the past few weeks has all but gone here now in the North East, only leaving behind some slush and hard to shift ice. I know the 20th is a week or so away, but because the previous show has shifted things are getting back to normal.

Yeah it's probably about 3 hours to 3 hours 20 mins on train. Luckily the train runs direct on the East Coast Mainline so you shouldn't need to change.

Coldplay to play intimate charity gigs in Newcastle and Liverpool in December!!! :D
You never know, just look at how long it was here for earlier this year. I sincerely hope not though because it'll be a logistical nightmare. Would they have to give back the money? It's a weird one with it being a charity. Anyway, lets not think about this.... Roll on the 20th!

We've already had a fair few big acts drop out in the region lately because of the conditions e.g. Paul Weller so it's not beyond the realms of reality. Given how long the last snow stuck around for, I just hope this shifts as soon as possible.

Is anyone worried about the weather possibly cancelling the shows? I know they're a while away yet but I can't see this snow shifting for a few weeks yet given the current temperatures. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

No offence but you were given every chance to get one, especially if you live in Newcastle. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

It's a no win situation for any band selling tickets to be honest, you're always going to have people who sell the tickets on for higher prices. The best thing to come of it is the auction system where the money will go directly to the charity than line the pocket of some tout.

It's far from ideal I agree, but I feel kind of let down that my postcode wasn't in the lottery anyway (I was 1 digit out so much so that the next village could get tickets but I couldn't). Would it make you feel any better if I said the cardholder is going to pick the ticket up for me and then give it to me. That way no rules have been broken. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

It also says on the confirmation email: ...and my mate has agreed to lend me his debit card for the night! So happy right now.

I managed to get a single seat.... through the postcode route. Sadly it means my other half isn't coming with me :(

Which gig are you trying to go for mate? If it's Newcastle, and I don't get some, I'll gladly take them off your hands - then we could always just meet up at the gig and get the tickets then.

I guess it comes down to whether SeeTickets allow you to post tickets out to somewhere other than the billing address. Personally I'm not so sure that they do. "In order to buy a ticket for either gig your billing address must be based in Liverpool for the 19th December gig or Newcastle for the 20th December gig." This is what SeeTickets page says: So.... I'm clinging to the fact that if I turn up to the show with my mates debit card claiming to be him. I'll be fine.

I'm guessing that page will change at 2pm to the page through which you buy the tickets.

Best of luck to you! I think you're going to have an easier job than me what with you going with your boyfriend. I just hope both of us are lucky, because I can't see Coldplay coming back to Newcastle anytime soon.

This is sounding better. I live in England so they won't be sending them overseas. Then if they still ask me for ID after I've bought the tickets, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

In that case, it might not be all bad. If I can persuade my mate to give me his card for the night (hard task I know) then all might not be lost. That way, I'll have a print out confirming 'I' have bought the tickets, and I'll even have the credit card on which it was bought.

Sorry to ask the question again - but aren't they just sending the tickets out to the ticket holders like normal? How are people so sure that you can only collect them on the night?
-
Coldplay to play intimate charity gigs in Newcastle and Liverpool in December!!! :D
Don't they just send the tickets out to him - rather than having to collect them at the venue? That's what I don't understand. Clutching at straws big time now, but if you can only collect them at the venue, could I borrow the card in which he paid for the tickets and that be good enough to get me in? I cannot say how desperate I am to see them.

Jeepers. I'm absolutely gutted. I live just outside the postcode for Newcastle but my friend agreed to buy them for me. Are we now saying that I won't be able to use the tickets?
