Oh Christmas Tree People :sneaky:

Last week The Magazine asked you to send in pictures of your Christmas trees to be analysed. Consultant psychologist, Feng Shui expert and spiritual healer Ingrid Collins now reveals what a selection of them say about their owners.

For those readers who asked what blank apartment walls meant... The answer is clear: BAH humbug.

BELINDA KOLANEK

"An owner with a rather alternative attitude to tradition.

"Someone creative who can see off-beat potential in everyday objects. I am assuming the cactus lives in that corner all year round.

"If so, ironically decorating it with conventional trimmings 'as if' it were a Christmas tree shows a certain unwillingness to going along with the total festive spirit.

"If, on the other hand, the cactus has been specially bought for the season, then the revolutionary spirit of the owner is truly rebelling against the usual symbols of the religious and the pagan aspects of the Christmas holiday."

Belinda Kolanek wrote: "We are four travellers on a budget and decided that our normal cactus could double as our Christmas tree this year. So with £10 worth of decorations from Tesco here it is."

DAVID LANE

"Just a glimpse here, but just enough to see that this is an artificial tree made of optic fibres, decorated in the same colour as the tree - gold.

"This is probably someone who has a modern interpretation of traditional form. An urban dweller who loves progress and technology, yet the colour gold and the fact that the tree is full of light suggests someone who has a spiritual awareness as well as a heightened sense of style.

"The choice of composition of the photo, giving as it does just an impression, leads me to think that the owner might be quite a private person with a strong internal sense of artistry and design."

David Lane wrote: "We went for a pink Barbie tree, we thought that if we were going to get a fake one then we should go the whole way."

SHARON CARTER

"This miniscule tree shows someone with a sense of humour and a certain amount of inventiveness.

"At heart a traditionalist - the tree is decorated with normal trimmings - the owner is probably in quite a quandary as to whether to be shy (choice of size) or noticeable (standing it on a mug to double its height).

"Someone with a tree like this is probably single, living in a flat, maybe sharing with friends, because it does not look like a tree that a family would let her get away with. Friends, however, would appreciate the joke."

Sharon Carter wrote: "Attached photo is of the tree in my office - kindly provided by my boss. Our office is a little on the small size!"

THE KRONK FAMILY, USA

"Here is a tree that shouts of happiness as its first feeling.

"Then comes the joy of giving, a feeling of celebration and the excitement of waiting for Christmas morning to unwrap the heaps of gifts.

"This traditional family tree is natural, which speaks of connection to the land, and is laden with decorations that have obviously been adorned around its branches with love. They are probably brought out each year with a sense of participation and continuation of the family history.

"The golden angel is its crowning glory, attesting to the spiritual awareness of the owners and reminding them of the religious message of this festive season."

Anita Kronk wrote: "This year my daughter, Amanda, 12, wanted to use her collection of ceramic clowns that I started when she was a small baby to decorate the tree.

"The tree is an artificial Valley Spruce Pine Tree, but comes loaded with love and life through the eyes of my two children and our two cats."

JAMES O'BRIEN

"Well I certainly hope that James has been a good boy all year, because he has so many Santas and so someone is hoping for lots of presents.

"The small, natural tree reveals some sensitivity, but this is well hidden underneath its robust and jolly exterior.

"However, on the top we can just catch sight of some delicately coloured angels, violet being a colour that particularly suggests the presence of spirituality over all the merrymaking.

"The equally sensitively coloured tinsel that has been wound around the tree is representative of the all pervasive awareness of the beauty of the divine under all the pagan garishness of the Santa lights.

"Not a family tree, my guess, but one that pleases its one owner."

James O'Brien wrote: "We live in a small top floor flat in Bath, (with no lifts), and so we were extremely restricted to the size of the tree that we could carry up the stairs and fit into the lounge.

"Unfortunately we could not resist the snowman and Santa tree lights that turned out to be way oversized for our fledgling Christmas tree and bent it so it looked like there was a constant gale blowing through the lounge."

JONATHAN AND JUDI BADGER, FRANCE

"We have here something which seems on first impression to be a joke.

"As I am a Feng Shui Consultant, I can applaud the decision to place a bright blue (sky?) spiral, which directs the energy and attention upward to the star, beside the loo, which directs the energy downward.

"So, it may be a coincidence, but the owner is showing sensitivity to harmonising energy and balancing the design of the space.

"Perhaps a person who owns a tree like this and chooses to place it in the bathroom has a good designer's heart. His taste is minimalist, funky, masculine, subversive and original.

"Is this a holiday cottage, or gite, in France - from the subtitle clue? If so, the removal from family of origin's traditional Christmas underlines the owner's independence of thought."

The Badgers said the tree is beside a flushing toilet in their barn in France: "The relevance is that we have spent nearly three years without such a luxury, but this month has seen the installation of a septic tank and therefore the installation of the device by which it is filled!

"The image is being sent out as our card to everyone this year - it was taken on the day the toilet was first flushed.
