Here is a song that was recently used in the OC. Does anyone know what effects are used to make her voice like that because I want to have a go. What would they use to make it sound like that?

This is a guess, iv been dabbling myself in synths recently and im hoping to get a rather flash Nord Modular G2 soon for my 18th to explore my non-classical side of music. Unless the effect is actually done by editing through a premium program like Cubase or Logic, then i THINK that its done by vocoder. What happens is you attach a microphone to you synth and you sing through it and it uses the sound model that you currently have programmed in the synth and bungs the sound waves it gets from your voice through it. Therefor you can pretty much make any sound with your voice (If your good enough with synth programming!) Hope this answers your question! Iv actually downloaded that song after hearing on the OC too, glad someone else appreciated it! If you want a cheap synth to use to vocode i think after my extensive research that the MicroKorg is the cheapest on the market with a vocoder. If it has one tho i cant assure you of its quality but Korg are pro! If anyone has an answer to contradict/support this please post! Cheeeears! :D
