Clocks' Inspiration - Muse?

I was listening to Muse, and was kind of sleepy, so I wasn't really following along. All of a sudden while listening to 'Hyper Music' I was like:

 

"Hey... he's playing 'Clocks' on his guitar...

 

...I wonder why...

 

.....

 

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!"

 

 

Way back in ezine #6 on pg. 5, Chris had mentioned that Clocks had been inspired by Muse, and I have always wondered which song it was. I had figured it was something like 'Sunburn' or 'Bliss' that had the piano in it.

 

But if you listen to the guitar part in 'Hyper Music' starting at about 2:15 and going to about 2:30 where he sings "who really cares anymore/who restrains" it sounds exactly like the piano line from Clocks, especially on the second run through the chords.

 

Any thoughts? Am I just hearing things? Might Chris have actually gotten it from here? Am I just crazy?

Ashley Simpson :sick: I meant nothing of the sort! I'm not saying it was copied, I just wondered if Chris might have gotten the idea from there...big difference. I'm curious about the (genuine) song writing process, especially where Clocks is my favorite song. I didn't even notice the bit until the umpteenth time I listened to the song, so it's not like its obvious.
