May 29, 200620 yr Mock-up ... how Becks might have looked on the decks It's a blingin' shame IT could have been our best-ever World Cup song – but sadly it wasn’t to be. I can reveal DAVID BECKHAM agreed to make a special appearance on a revamped version of NEW ORDER’s classic, World In Motion. The England ace was all set to bling it up and swap free-kicks for freestyle rap — but FA bosses pulled the plug. The hit footie chant, originally penned for the 1990 World Cup, was set for its second release for the 2002 tournament in Japan. And Becks was up for visiting the recording studio to tackle JOHN BARNES’ infamous rap before FA bigwigs gave him the red card at the last minute. Instead, they lined up ANT and DEC to perform the official England song We’re On The Ball. And I’m sorry boys, but it was rubbish by comparison. My computer wizards show what Becks might have looked like if he took up rapping like his idols 50 CENT and EMINEM. New Order frontman PETER HOOK told me: “We’re definitely not re-releasing World In Motion this year. We were going to re-do it for 2002 and even approached David Beckham to re-record the John Barnes rap. “And he agreed! So did his management. In fact, everything was in place but then the FA banned it because they had already signed Ant and Dec. “It’s a shame. It would have been brilliant. But that was our last effort and it was shot down. “We’ll never do another football song. If we did, we’d use WAYNE ROONEY now.” Sorry, but I reckon Wayne and his broken foot have had quite enough of hip-hop. Still, there’s always The Sun’s hit Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Jurgen Klinsmann? to fire up our boys in Germany.
May 29, 200620 yr ^Even worse would be if he did a duet with his wife!! oooohhhhhh, David and his skeleton
May 29, 200620 yr Author oooohhhhhh' date=' David and his skeleton [/quote'] Do you mean "Stick"toria??
May 29, 200620 yr Author Stop press: Sticktoria has taken up the guitar. Here's an exclusive pic I got hold of:
May 29, 200620 yr Author It probably still would have been better than 'World at your feet'. :P You might have a point. Anyway, people are all going to be singing the other one, "Is This the Way to Win the World Cup?":P
May 29, 200620 yr Haha probably, at least the lyrics arent difficult. Have you ever heard ours? The worst thing about it is that you can't even sing it because it's a rap.

May 29, 200620 yr Author Bring back world in motion. And the true masta' garage MC John Barnes. Although it was a little bit worrying when he sang "There's only one way to beat them, get round the back". Apparently that line was written by Elton.
May 29, 200620 yr Indeed, that does worry The Faceman. Although I have set it as my ringtone and I'm a man who hates ringtones. It just felt like the right thing to do though.
May 29, 200620 yr Author Indeed' date=' that does worry The Faceman. Although I have set it as my ringtone and I'm a man who hates ringtones. It just felt like the right thing to do though.[/quote'] Well it's still the greatest footie song ever. It has no equal.

May 29, 200620 yr The Faceman concurs with your hypothesis. World in motion is indeed the greatest football song of all time. On the ball is shit in comparison.
May 29, 200620 yr Author No' date=' but we need some good footaball song![/quote'] And maybe some good footballers to go with it!!:P
May 29, 200620 yr Author The Faceman concurs with your hypothesis. World in motion is indeed the greatest football song of all time. On the ball is shit in comparison. That's a bit like comparing Wayne Rooney to Carlton Palmer!!:P
May 29, 200620 yr And maybe some good footballers to go with it!!:P We have some good footballers, that's why Switzerland are qualified and Ireland and Turkey aren't!
May 29, 200620 yr Author We have some good footballers' date=' that's why Switzerland are qualified and Ireland and Turkey aren't![/quote'] Maybe - but Ireland are poor at the moment, while Turkey are crazy!!:P
