About Dunkin’ Donuts Newport Folk Festival: Nearing its 50th anniversary year, the Dunkin' Donuts Newport Folk Festival has been dedicated to fostering American music for decades and has become legendary in pop culture, not only for the role it played in the early careers of artists like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, James Taylor, Arlo Guthrie, Joni Mitchell and others, but for its continued presence through the years as a showcase for generations of performers. Many landmark moments have become part of the festival’s lore: Muddy Waters taking the stage in 1960; Bob Dylan’s switch to electric guitar in 1965. Since those early years, generations of visionary artists have come to Newport to break new ground, intent on evolving American music by injecting it with their own creativity and energy. http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2006/8/emw418831.htm
