at first there are 12 but then everyone gives 1/12 part of his body to create the 13th one..when there are 13 men they all have 12/13 of their full body..for example the leftmost man loses his top and the second one from the top right gvies his small part from bottom:)

the child is -9 months now.. so the father must be with the mother - i can't know the position though :P
