Lucie Silvas - Last Year

That voice is back - Lucie Silvas makes a dynamic return on November 6th with the deftly evocative new single 'Last Year'. Produced by Danton Supple, the man behind Coldplay’s 'X&Y', it's her first release from the forthcoming LP 'The Same Side', released November 13th, and follows the platinum debut ‘Breathe In’, which sold a staggering 400,000 copies in the UK and took Europe by storm.

Co-written by Lucie, the new single is a richly textured, multi-layered ballad, which marks a noticeable progression in the singer/songwriter’s already impressive vocal range. A warm, intimate and addictive track, it's the ideal homecoming for the New Zealand born, British raised performer.

A highlight of the shimmering new album, it boasts a subtle but effective new direction for the 29 year-old artist. “Everything was so perfectly structured and safe with first album, but this new material is more adventurous,” says Lucie. “There’s certainly more experimentation, light and shade. It’s a very happy, but complex, album.”

The accompanying video is by acclaimed director Barnaby Roper, whose previous credits include Razorlight’s ‘Stumble & Fall’, the Magic Number’s 'Love Me Like You' and Snow Patrol’s 'You're All I Have'.

Aside from her impressive UK debut, which included the Top Ten smash hits ‘What You’re Made Of’ and ‘Breathe In’, Lucie also scored Number 1s across Europe with ‘What You’re Made Of’ and her stunning interpretation of Metallica’s ‘Nothing Else Matters’. Now, she’s taken her professional and personal experiences and formulated them into this new, emotional sound.

The single will be released on 2-track CD with exclusive tracks recorded by Lucie in recent weeks.

The single ‘Last Year’ will be released on Mercury Records, November 6th. The album ‘The Same Side’ follows on November 13th

Released November 6, 2006

Since her debut, Lucie has continued to go from strength to strength. She’s spent the last twelve months cementing her success around the world with UK festivals and a sell-out, headline European tour. Featuring 12 excellent songs written by Lucie – plus a beautiful, bonus, hidden track –the new album was performed and recorded on Freddie Mercury’s piano, on which he wrote ‘Bohemian Rhapsopy’.

Without question, Lucie Silvas has successfully consolidated her reputation as one of the UK’s most dexterous and credible female singer/songwriters.
