lili_pt
one Portuguese author once said that time was his biggest concern because it never stopped and as it was passing we were getting closer to death.... i don't know why but i have been thinking about this...this is probably a stupid thought but i mean....he is right! don't you never get scared about time and how it all happens so quickly?? it seems like yesterday that was i was starting high school and now i'm at uni....it scares me how one year seems such a long period of time and suddenly it's in the end....it scares me the thought that i probably could enjoy life more and i'm not....do you know what i mean? this is really random but it's been bugging me....i needed to share! :P oh sorry if there's already a thread about this! marianatsl
haha, funny thing, my tattoo has to do with that... it says: "Time is on you side" (yes, i know, 'Amsterdam', Rolling Stones, well aware of that... :dozey: ) But i chose that sentence exactely because of that feeling. Sometimes it feels like because time is passing so fast people are trying to run against it, or think that death is coming closer (like you said0, but imo it could be quite the opposite. What if instead of thinking that your time is coming to an end, you start thinking that you're learning more with this time passing, experiencing more things, just living one day after the other. Some things actually need time to get solved (broken hearts, unresolved fights, etc), and I think what you have to learn is not how to try and fight time or delay it, it's just live all your moments fully, and sucking up the most you can from each experience. i dunno... maybe thats just my point of view... lili_pt
i actually agree with you! i realised i've been thinking about this mainly because i'm having so much work with uni that i feel there's little time left for doing the things i really want to....it's not that i don't like what i'm studying is just that studying all the time it's not the perfect life for me! and i also feel that as i get older i will have even less time for doing what i want... thanks for answering! (obrigado!) ;)
Oenona
Lili, this thread sums up what I am currently feeling since I turned 20. I just feel that I'm getting old, that I could have done so many things when I was younger that I didn't do.... time is passing by quickly, and every time it goes quicker, although I remember when I was a kid, and days could be everlasting, you know? but now it's the opposite. Even if I'm having a bad day, it passes quickly. Regarding to what you said about Uni, I feel the same as well. You couldn't have said it better, really, 'cos I spend most of my time studying and I would also like to do some other stuff that I can't do and sometimes this makes me feel depressive. Oh, I almost forget... besides realising I'm getting old, I'm awared that there're some things you HAVE to do when you're young (if you want to), 'cos if you don't do them... be sure that you won't do them when you are older. And this also bothers me.
Byron369
No regrets. That's what I have to say. And, I realize...that there's no story that's neverending.
ColdMike
It's been 10 years I feel like time is running quicker and quicker.... It's like being in a car and the speed raises helplessly... Two years I left uni, without carrying on my studies... (lame...) Three years someone from my family left me Seven years since my first gf... and more... that's completely crazy, I think about this so much time... ColdMike
Hey Lilly!! Yeah, that's right... time is running as fast as when you think about all what happened to you... and sometimes, I feel the complete opposite of this... I mean, during the week end, I do so much things I feel like I was in holidays, I feel like my week end lasted one week or so... A minute can be very very very long, if you do nothing... and it's so short if you 're busy... Each minute is for living...

ColdMike
^yeah I agree a bit in fact time is just a kinda reference point for human being not to be lost during the day and the night. It's so abstract, we can't see it, we can't catch it, but we can feel its effect on our lives, everyday... What is a minute? an hour? a day? a year? Just some reference points. What if we didn't have no time, I mean, no reference points during our lives?
Ergf
^ Very true. But if we didn't have time, we wouldn't have schedules, so everything would turn into a chaos where some people work at some 'time' and other's work much later or earlier ... A society like ours wouldn't be able to exist without it.

StarsKay
no idea why but this topic reminded me of the comedy show ellen degeneres did about procrastination. all jokes aside, (it was truly funny stuff btw) her final line was something on the lines of we do so much things to get to the end so we have time to do what we want to, which when we have that time, we do nothing with it, that's why procrastnation feels so good...so don't put off, procrastinate now! or something like that.
