.....the sacred "mc squared".....

Featured Replies

i don't know you, but i love physics. and einstein? he is a real genius. among his findings and formulas i like e=mc(squared) the most..

i saw there are many clubs here and much of them are just like spamming. and i wanted to create a scientific thread so that we can share some scientists lives or stories of some milestones in physics/maths/computer science/chemistry etc.

so, i want to start with a story of relativity theory of einstein and his magical formula e=mc squared. shit, how creative and genius and so simple.

have fun!

“This is my poetry,” the scientist elucidated. “Energy is equal to mass times the speed of light squared. And like you, my poet friend, I don’t know where it came from, I just felt it.”

cool idea. scientists lives are interesting. Especially galileo, since he was forced into denying his ideas about the earth not being the center of the universe :)

and einstein was offerered the presidency of the state of israel but declined "being deeply touched by the offer but not suited for the position."

some people are not suited for some positions really...

Finally, and intelligent thread.

... Although i have made some pointless threads in my time here, i admit

Is there a Steven Hawking thread anywhere?

what about the theory of everything? do any of you reckon it's never going to get established. i mean there must be something out there that ties everything together, i don't know, feels like everythings in parallel and although are so close, will never meet. hm so lost cause or not?

i did a study on kepler and his planetary laws for a class presentation. it was pretty interesting. seriously, if you take a few mins to think about someone like kepler and how their contribution has shaped the world, you'd realise it's a shame more people don't know about them.

Well i guess its even more of a shame that i havn't heard of him

I like your sig btw Kathy... ;)

well yes it is, but i doubt i would even if it hadn't been for the presentation, but my point exactly lol

...

we're all heard of newton's laws, but something probably not widely known is that kepler's study of planets and universal gravitation was actually the foundation to newton's studies.

i know kepler from high school and university but not his life/detailed theorems only his planetary laws.. (maybe you can share something about him:cool:)

and about toe(theory of everything): i need to know what it is exactly, first :)

no but maybe you can tell what you know about him/his theories :)

...

Asked in October 2005 on the British daytime chat show Richard & Judy, to explain his assertion that the question "What came before the Big Bang?" was meaningless, he compared it to asking "What lies north of the north pole?"
