Square A is the same colour as square B

 

maybe I'm just being stubbornly ignorant about this one. I know it's supposed to highlight the mind's continuation of the checkered pattern, and also the effect of the shade. But after all my effort and experimentation, I still cannot bring myself to believe that those two squares are actually the same color shade.
