January 3, 200818 yr Poetry is great. We did it in my final year at school in English. A lot of us were apprehensive about it, but by the end, we all loved it. I like it Charles.
January 12, 200818 yr Author Thanks Ahlem! (and are you a scientist??) - that's a nice name -sounds Arabian or Indian - am I correct or mistaken?? :) Anyhow, thanks for the compliment! Crestingwaves, I'm glad you enjoyed poetry. It can be a little tough - bearing ones' soul at times, and having that criticized is not so easy - I remember how it was for me! Thinking - it's funny, but they never paired up the two (music and poetry); and yet, they both can be very inter-dependent, especially in modern music.. Maybe that has been done at other schools, but our's was so old-school - you would have thought Gregorian Chants were the latest thing! Well, thanks all for the feedback, and send out some poetry!:)

January 17, 200818 yr Author Thanks Ahlem! Arabic is fascinating! We had a travelling troupe of singers come through the area a year or so ago, and they really put on quite a show - Cameron and Kristina Powers are their names, and they have travelled extensively in the Arab world - very nice people, and fascinating descriptions of the world there! I was very interested in learning about the different ways in which people think, and how that relates to language - and they did an excellent job of explaining how the Arab world thinks more in terms of action (verbs), rather than objects (nouns), and how this affects outlook, as well as being interwoven into the fabric of the language and culture. So, do you see yourself more as French, Arabic, or something new?

So, do you see yourself more as French, Arabic, or something new? well, it's a bit hard both, really French because i live in France and Arabic because it's my origin i can't chose, it's as difficult as when you have to chose btw your mother and your father and to crown it i would to see my self as English, that will be cool:D no seriously i'm stick to the two country:rolleyes: :\...
January 19, 200818 yr Author well, it's a bit hard both, really French because i live in France and Arabic because it's my origin i can't chose, it's as difficult as when you have to chose btw your mother and your father and to crown it i would to see my self as English, that will be cool:D no seriously i'm stick to the two country:rolleyes: :\... That's a dilemma! Well, I can visualize that.. like wearing different hats, so to speak; or maybe like different plays with different acts and actors? I've often felt myself that I can be in more than one state of mind, yet they don't mesh perfectly.. One thing's true - we're all human! I've often thought of different cultures as different spices; all can be good in the right dish, and all make life better!:) English - yes, there's a certain appeal to being English; England certainly is a cool place!:laugh3: (especially in January!) Well, whatever you choose, or choose to be all of the above, just enjoy life!:sunny:
January 19, 200818 yr Author The Path Traveled: After the crash, after the dust had settled After all the cleanup, and all the mourning Cried the morning dove, a haunting melody And Time Passed this way. Another season, another dawn, another snow Cooler thinking still not complete, still questions, perhaps eternal Why the daring risks for naught and does not see Yet small; but fragile; and still no eyes Could see the reel as real Lessons too hard, why must it be? Panning the stream bed, for a glint of gold Yet all around is better than gold, better than glory Lost in the mist of time and space; answers deep, for the Dove's Call: Ooo, Wheeo, Coo, Coo..
