Jude Law: "I Want To Play Piano Like Chris Martin"

Jude Law's New Year's resolution is to play the piano like Coldplay's Chris Martin.

The "Sleuth" star, who can already play the saxophone, harmonica and guitar, is desperate to become an amazing pianist because he is "rubbish" at playing the other instruments.

He told BANG Showbiz, "I don't usually make New Year's resolutions because I try and have resolutions and ambitions all through the year. You know what, though, I don't know whether I'll be able to accomplish this next year but I've always wanted to learn a musical instrument well."

"I play a few badly - the harmonica, saxophone and guitar - but I'm rubbish at all of them. I'd like to be able to play like Chris Martin, who I admire an awful lot."

Jude's ambition for 2007 was achieved when he produced and starred in a re-make of 1972 film "Sleuth" alongside Sir Michael Caine.

The original movie saw Caine play a young man who is having an affair with the wife of an older successful writer, portrayed by screen legend Laurence Olivier.

He said, "I had dinner with Michael and asked him to star in a remake of 'Sleuth', but this time with me playing his old part and him switching to the role originally played by Olivier."

"To have Michael agree, and then get Kenneth Branagh to direct definitely fulfilled my ambition for this year."

I think that's cool that he looks up to Chris like that. :P Chris is a great pianist!

I would be gay for a night, just for jude law... :stunned:

You have good taste! :P

LOL, Law is pretty hot.

I guess we have something in common. I'd love to play like Chris as well.

:laugh3:

ohhhhhh jude law. ditto to what everyones said about his hottness. ohhhh my god.

i've always thought that jude and chris look somewhat similar (though chris is more adorable while jude is more undeniably drop-dead gorgeous), so this makes me laugh a little in that sense. i mean, theyre not identical, but...similar. tee hee.

Well, I suppose one just has to love it, accept lots and lots of early mistakes, and keep practicing! Plus, build confidence, and understand a lot more than just the written sheet music. Understanding styles, how and why they make us feel the way we do, and try to compose quite a bit as well. And even Coldplay makes clinkers every now and then!

Hey, I recall that The Beatles could hardly play or sing when they got started! So, really, it's just a matter of persistence and desire to improve, with the aim to be top notch some day. (and copy a lot.. er.. improve on existing works..):)

God have listened to my prays..

:laugh4:

Odd choice. Chris is a decent pianist...

Shouldn't be too hard with some musical experience.

Chord chord chord....

Sweet tho, hehe.

And have different coloured tape on it and get a tattoo of "A" on his hand too...
