May 18, 200818 yr There is absolutely no good tickets available anywhere, not even if I wanted to pay 1,000 per ticket. With most concerts you will look on ebay and see front row tickets, second row tickets and everything else available, for inflated prices, of course. If you look, the best you can get on ticketmaster auctions is row M, that's 13 rows back. Seats are even worse on Ebay. Where have these first 10 rows gone to? Where have any of the good seats gone to? If they were released publicly or every privately to radio stations, high rollers, insiders, friends, whatever, we could count on at least a couple of pairs showing up on stubhub or ebay. But there is nothing. I just called the MGM box office and the rep told me that they weren't releasing any tickets in the future. This needs to be straightened out.
May 18, 200818 yr The great tickets for Vegas are well and truely locked up in the comp system here. The MGM will give them to high rollers who have requested them and are part of the condition of their stay. Those tickets won't even be handed out by the MGM until a guest checks in. I also understand the promoters have a batch of these tickets too which will not be handed out! You have to be on the official guest list and be invited. That is just the way it is in Vegas! It is not just coldplay, it is very difficult to get front row seats for any event in this city. However, it is not true the MGM/promoters will not release any of these tickets. But they will not announce this, you might just get lucky and find a great ticket on some site. But it is very hard, the whole casino city is involved in this complex network of tickets.
May 18, 200818 yr Author This is too bad. They should have had a GA floor here. First come, first serve is the way to go. Are you a Belle and Sebastian fan? Me too.
May 19, 200818 yr i know! it pretty much sucks...i wish coldplay would have played the pearl-at the palms. much better, slightly smaller venue with general admission. i was front row standing there for bjork! the mgm is always all-seater as far as i know, its great for boxing but quite average for music fans. i really don't know why coldplay have such a love of the place-i know they love to play vegas though for the chance to gamble and play poker tournaments. if you want to meet coldplay, then you will see them hanging out at the mgm-i saw guy and will playing a poker tourny last time. yes, i love belle and sebastian-hence the name!
May 19, 200818 yr Okay guys and girls! I have some new info about the set-up at the MGM which might further explain the lack of front row seats. Floor A-Rows A-M only have 2 to 8 seats per row. Rows N-X will have about 20 seats per row. Floor B-Rows A-X will have about 20 seats per row. Floor C-Rows A-M only have 2 to 8 seats per row. Rows N-X will have about 20 seats per row. This is due to the unusual stage shape coldplay are useing for this tour. This means there are only about 275-350 seats in the first 12 rows. Looking at a detailed map-from a nice lady at the MGM. Some of the best seats off the floor, will be around sections L17-U17 Rows A-X sections L16-U16 Rows A-X sections L15-U15 Rows A-X sections L14-U14 Rows A-X If you are in L14, L15, L16, L17 Row A-you will in fact be front row also because of the way the stage is set up. You would also technically be front row if you have Floor A and C, Row N. The stadium will be 13,000 capacity exactly!!! Hope that this helps you!!!!
May 19, 200818 yr Author Thanks that makes me feel alot better. So I have a pair in section U19 and a pair in section L10. Which do you think would be better?
May 19, 200818 yr Thanks that makes me feel alot better. So I have a pair in section U19 and a pair in section L10. Which do you think would be better? Tough call! In U19, you will be behind the stage, looking down on to it. L10 you are further away but you will be looking at the stage. check out the seating plan http://www.mgmgrand.com/entertainment/grand-garden-arena-floorplan.aspx?floorplan=http%3a%2f%2fwww.mgmgrand.com%2fentertainment%2ffloorplans%2fColdplay+04B.gif
May 19, 200818 yr UPDATE around 9,000 tickets have already sold from 13,000. it is expected to sell out within the next 2-3 weeks. the top price level tickets are 90% sold out and will probably sell out in the next week. so if you are thinking about attending now would be a good time to confirm.
May 20, 200818 yr Author Myth = Busted So we can assume that the venue allocated about 275-350 tickets to the "insiders" So where does that leave sections L12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17? Look no further: http://www.ticketmaster.com/auction/0A0040A5F8B98B84/1/?tm_link=edp_auction These tickets up for auction are in groups. So it isn't just one ticket you are bidding on, it's a whole group. This explains why nobody was able to pull up the other 500 good tickets on the general on sale. I also speculate that the few premium tickets that weren't given to insiders or to ticketmaster auctions were given to people lined at the box office from 6am to 9am where they handed out wristbands. A box office rep told me there were about 50 to 100 tickets given away via box office/wristband. 300 tickets went to insiders 300 - 500 went to ticketmaster acutions - look for yourself, there are huge batches. 50 - 100 went to box office/wristband people getting them online - priceless.
May 20, 200818 yr The 50-100 tickets at the box office were not premium seats. You were allowed to get in line at 6am at MGM, the first 100 people in line were given wristbands with a random number 1-100. If you got no.1 you were called first etc. This went on till all 100 tickets were sold. Having a wristband was not a guarantee of a ticket. And these were just the same U11-U20 or L11-L20 seats, some D,E,F Floor seats. There was no advantage to get in line at MGM-there were no premium seats to be had in that line. If there were the scalpers here would pay people to get in line and get the 100 wristbands.
May 20, 200818 yr I have seen the ticketmaster auctions, they have been doing this lately. They also own ticketsnow.com and direct you to look at seats. But the ticketmaster auction arrangement is only allowed if the venue and promoter agrees.

May 20, 200818 yr I hope the ticket situation is a little better for us fans when they come to Chicago.. I really don't want to have to bid for a seat and keep fingers crossed
May 20, 200818 yr Author Chicago will be better cause you don't have all of this casino insider ticket trading crap. Just pray that ticketmaster auctions aren't available for your show and you should be in pretty good shape.
May 20, 200818 yr Author 300 tickets went to insiders plus about 1,000 which the mgm has not allocated. so you think there are still 1,000 tickets mgm has that they are going to release to the public?
May 20, 200818 yr so you think there are still 1,000 tickets mgm has that they are going to release to the public? its not certain, it depends how many guests ask for tickets. and obviously we will have to wait and see what tickets they are....there will be lower price level tickets too. i am guessing that although it will sell-out, i don't think the tickets are that hot to most mgm customers-they have the police, madonna coming up. i think some will find there way back to ticketmaster. i would try ticketmaster in a week or two and see if anything comes up. this is what i did last time coldplay played mgm. all the top price tickets were gone when they went on general sale. i kept checking and two weeks before the gig i got floor tickets. are you looking for any particular seats? i have a few contacts and have been offered real good seats for floor and near stage. i can keep an eye out for you at least and let you know if anything turns up

Do you think anything like that is possible? I already have some ok seats, i'm just looking to upgrade, haha.
May 21, 200818 yr yeah i have heard of that happening, you just have to luck out. i just got an email from mgm offering ticket/hotel packages for the police this weekend-a really amazing deal for $300-$600! well i can see if i can find any upgrades. i'm not interested in any money, just a belief in helping fans.
