[23-Sept-2011] Coldplay @ iHeartRadio Music Festival, MGM Grand in Las Vegas
They actually only sold about 4,000 tickets for each day from 13,000. The rest have been allocated to various media and venue.

[3-Aug-2011] Coldplay @ Samsung AT&T Summer Krush Concert Series, Los Angeles
But Samsung AT&T are essentially dropping a huge chunk of cash to sponsor the event, which benefits the Grammy Foundation. Like you said, it is a great program. I know a few people who wouldn't have taken degrees in music production and engineering without the Grammy Foundation. Sound Engineers are the unsung heroes of the music industry.

The ticket prices are high and I agree with you on that. However, it is a benefit event for the Grammy's (or NARAS) more than a Coldplay concert. Coldplay probably had no input on prices and left to the NARAS organization to determine prices. The money from tickets is going to NARAS, which does some excellent work on supporting musicians, producers and engineers. Also, making it easier for people to enter college and get degrees. Without that kind of support it would be harder for music to be made.

Wouldn't have mattered because Ticketmaster.com page didn't open at exactly 10am. Unlike the Ticketmaster.ca page which did.

Well I managed two Pit tickets for a friend of mine. Guess they owe me big time because my third browser yielded 'no tickets available'.

[23-Sept-2011] Coldplay @ iHeartRadio Music Festival, MGM Grand in Las Vegas
The location has nothing to do with the ticket prices. It is getting all those popular artists to play that costs so much. I know the BEP, John Mayer, Alica Keys etc aren't playing for free! I would caution against anyone who is thinking of blowing hundreds of bucks they don't have to see this show. The sets will be radio friendly i.e. short-probably 20-30 minutes. The shows will probably be broadcast live. The $45 seats have obstructed view. I would say looking at the seat map, you have virtually no view except for screens.

Coldplay Join Jay-Z For New Year's Gig 2010 (CONFIRMED!)
I think part of the problem is that this gig is exclusively private, but then the resort putting on the show is saying 'well you can watch it outside on a big screen'. So there is a public teasing, but also a firm you can't get in. Plebs can stand outside and watch a screen, but the elite can see it up close and personal. I think that is the only questionable element for many, because Coldplay have played lots of private corporate gigs-I saw Chris Martin play 5 songs at one. For the most part most of us never hear about these things, but they are an essential part of a artists life-they have to please record companies, sponsors, radio/tv. It is part of the corporate culture. EMI is owned by Terra Firma Capital and many of EMI's artists play private gigs for Terra Firma.

Coldplay Join Jay-Z For New Year's Gig 2010 (CONFIRMED!)
There are not any tickets. It is a guest list, so no chance of seeing tickets on ebay or craigslist. It is an invite event-if your name isn't on the list then you aren't getting in. And booking a room will not get you in-the Cosmopolitan was already sold out because it is fully booked for the corporate event. So don't get sucked in to a ticket-scam folks.

Coldplay Join Jay-Z For New Year's Gig 2010 (CONFIRMED!)
End of day, most bands play corporate gigs and this is not Coldplays first. Usually you never hear about it. It is a way, to secure extra income for a few hours work. Let me assure you as someone who has been to several of these corporate gigs, they are pretty dull affairs where mostly everyone sits and politely claps. You aren't missing much. If you could attend, you will stood with 30-something bankers and high rollers you will be more concerned with checking their blackberries and iphones. BTW For those slagging off playing Vegas, it is pretty lame. Some of us live here and have normal lives, in a varied multi-cultural city with some of the most diverse natural landscape anywhere in the world. It is not all about the Strip! Those early comments were pretty ignorant and prejudiced. Besides every time Chris has played Vegas, he always like to joke that in 10 years he will be headline at the local cabaret and hopes we will still come along.

It is according to my friend very generous! The more they played coldplay the more quality tickets they would get. So the incentives were there.

I spoke to a friend of mine who works for a radio station in the Bay area, they were given 25 tickets in the 3rd, 4th, 5th rows and 100 lawn seats. A huge thank you for the extended air play the last album was given.

If this is the case then it is terrible. All the folks who have tickets now have to decide whether to try get better tickets. Plus a lot of you may have already bought from scalpers. The chances are if you buy the better tickets you then have to sell the other tickets-which means losing money on Lawn Seats (the lawn seats are mostly still available). So potentially some folks will get stuck with tickets they can't sell.

I have seen the click and pick and they are saying every single seat in the 100's is sold out! Usually you find odd seats lurking around but strangely none in the 100's. I think that is all livenation have until a premium seats sale/auction is announced. I find it impossible that there are no seats in the 100's. Livenation was not that busy-usually when there is a rush it takes several minutes to get seats. I think there were very few seats in the 100's and they have been reserved for the choosen ones.

I suspect they will be offered by the band, livenation & TM. Not scalpers, I've been looking and scalpers don't even have that many great seats.

Livenation and TM do not hold tickets back-it is the band/managment/venue that dictates this policy. TM and LN are contractually not allowed to withold tickets. Like I say, expect some premium seats packages to come your way in the next week-something which is BS anyway, given a real fan will already have tickets, now they will have to decide to upgrade or stick with what they have.

I suspect the 100's are going to be packaged as some VIP package-where you pay $300 for a ticket and they give you a shiney laminate or they are going to auction!

Ticketmaster does not hold on to better seats and release them through a sale. TM are not allowed to do this for various contractual reasons, like I say I've worked with TM and TM is not allowed to do this. The only occassion I have ever noticed something like this happening is when the system fails to include blocks of tickets due to human error. It is very rare and I can only guess that there aren't any 100 block tickets for sale or a glitch has occurred-I think it is the former because the same thing is across all dates. So I suspect auctions or premium seat packages-where you pay $300 for a seat and they give you a tour program or laminate.
