Cancer in Life

Coping with the truth of cancer is one of the most difficult situations life can present anyone. And when this happens at an early stage of life like childhood, it’s more devastating. Imagine a family that has to go through the sorrows of a child helplessly. The children, however, seem to be more patient about the whole thing than their adult counterparts. Most of the children have the courage and will power to complete the treatment than adults.

The St Baldrick’s organization was formed to help these children and their families to cope with cancer. The foundation raises awareness and funds to cure kid’s cancer by supporting cancer research and fellowships. During this event, thousands of volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children with cancer, while requesting donations of support from friends and family. Shavees and volunteers can participate in honor or in memory of kids who have fought, or are fighting, cancer. These children and teens give a face and a story to the cause, inspiring all to go the extra mile (or inch, in terms of hair!) in raising funds and awareness.

For the foundation, every donor is a hero in the fight against childhood cancer. Tens of thousands of individuals and families lend their support to find cures for childhood cancer each year by donating to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Some of the supporters of the foundation include Sharma Family Fund, Nidhi & Deep Kumar, Mr. and Mrs. William McCauley, IT Xchange Group, Schreiber Family Fund, Doyle Family, David Disiere among thousands of others. Funds raised through St. Baldrick's events are helping some of the world's finest researchers to find cures for childhood cancer. The St. Baldrick's Foundation became an independent charity in late 2004 and began making grants in 2005.
