Sounds like a rush of blood?

Hey Guys,

Ive listened to the new disc probably about 10 times over the past weekend. I just have to say, what an amazing piece of work by the band. I was very nervous, having been a fan of the pre-X and Y stuff on the bands direction. They definitely did not disapoint me in the slightest!

I just wanted to see if anyone thought that the new stuff sounded a bit like Rush of Blood to the head? This was my favorite album almost of all time, and im just so stoked by the tracks. Mainly I mean Chris's voice and some of Johnnys riffs. I think they in fact went back to how they used to sound as opposed to trying all sorts of new things. Just wondering thoughts on this.

IE.

Very beginning of "Cemetaries of London"

Beginning of 42

Chinese Sleep Chant Johnnys guitar is reminiscent of daylight or whisper.

I suppose there's elements of A Rush... in it from time to time, but I think overall this is a major step forward for the band. The saturation of church organ coupled with a hip-hop type back-beat on Lost, the middle-eastern twang on yes, the ambiance of Life in technicolour. To me, just those songs alone seperate this from the previous trillogies of Coldplay releases. I think the most "Coldplay sounding" song would have to be the first single, Violet Hill.

No wonder I like it so much then! :)

Haha well honestly, I do think there are some similar parts, but they have some cool new sounds in there.

Whisper,

I like your response. I would have to agree. This new album is awesome regardless!

Chinese Sleep Chant is the most Rush of Blood sounding track IMO. It reminds me most of One I Love.

Coldplay has never completely gone away from that sound, IMO. True, they added elements to their music that weren't there before in X&Y, but they still retained that classic Coldplay sound.

Artistically, though, I have to agree with you. Coldplay haven't been this on fire in a long time.
