I know this performance was quite awhile ago but I was just watching some video of it.

 

The guys come on stage at different times before rehearsal starts, and it looks like Chris is the only one to acknowledge the audience. When Guy comes out,the audience cheers and it looks like he doesnt even smile. Did anyone see this live.Just curious

Yeah, that was about the way of it. They each came out and went directly to their respective spots - talking to their roadies and the NBC people, getting their earpieces sorted.

 

I've never seen them soundcheck before so I have no idea if this was standard protocol. However to give the other guys the benefit of the doubt, I can imagine they might have been overwhelmed seeing as how it was about 6:15 in the morning and the area around Rockefeller Plaza was packed full of people.

 

I never got the feeling they were intentionally ignoring the fans - more like they were at work and trying to make sure the performance would go as smoothly as possible.

I was there too. I think the guys were a bit nervous with all of us there all staring at them. They were literally surrounded. There even were people on top of buildings, looking out the windows, and in every direction there was just a sea of people. But we did scream Jonny's name during a break and he looked and smiled when we waved to him from the 2nd row. :D
