How honest are you with your friends when it comes to relationships?

Featured Replies

Would you warn them if you feel like their partner isn't being fair on them?

One of my friend's boyfriend never really seemed to be interested in a relationship. I was always under the impression that he was taking advantage of her. I sometimes even had the feeling that he wasn't actually with her because he loved her.

Now I didn't tell her anything because she loved him and she seemed so happy. I hoped that I was wrong and I didn't think it would be fair on her partner (I knew him quite well) to say anything.

It turned out that exactly what me and my friends feared happened. This made me feel kinda guilty and I felt like I should have warned her even though she might not have listened.

How honest would you be with your friends when it comes to those things? Would you prefer if they told you?

I always say that friends should support the decisions you make, but be there for you if they turn out to be the wrong ones.

Telling your friend she was with the wrong guy wouldn't have changed her mind. I think you did the right thing.

True. I don't think she would have listened at the time. It all was pretty obvious to everyone else. :embarassed:

I'd prefer my friends to be completely honest with me. It probably wouldn't stop me from going out with someone I love either though, so maybe there really is no point in saying those kind of things.

Well if my opinion was just based on an impression, maybe I wouldn't tell my friend because of how he/she might get it (as an offence, probably bad) but if I really had arguments and facts of why that relationship isn't good for them of couse I would tell them.

Does it make sense?
