Guest howyousawtheworld
This Wednesday is the 20th anniversary of Britain's worst ever sporting disaster. On April the 15th, 1989 on a sunny, warm day in Sheffield, 96 football fans lost there lives in a catastophic crowd crush at the Hillsborough stadium. The match was Liverpool v Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup semi final. All the losses were from the Liverpool side. Later an investigation revealed a complete lack of duty on the police's behalf, despite the disgusting claims made by a certain British tabloid. 20 years on though, it still conjures up emotions and feeling within everybody in football. Events like that reveal football to be just a hobby. Rivalries don't ever get in the way of such things. Those 96 who died just went to have a good day out, and they never came back. It serves as a reminder that football is everything to some people, yet worthless at other times. But at the same time, it's the supporters that are the most important factor of football. The families of those wouldn't have got through it without the wonderful support that comes from football.
