The Let's Talk About the Demos Thread

Featured Replies

I think they are not that good. Chris's falsetto is horrible. Although the piano work is lovely.

Although I kind of like Goodbye and Good Night a little. Also I keep calling it it Good Night and Good Luck; discuss.

There's already a thread somewhat like this... :uhoh:

Here.

BUT, just 'cause I can, I'd like to take this opportunity to express my love for the demo for Lovers in Japan and The Man Who Swears. I don't have a problem with Chris' singing - they're demos, he wasn't expecting anyone to listen to them except him and the band. They're purely for song constructing purposes. You can tell he's deep in thought while singing them, mumbling most lines just to get the tune through. :nice:

^But it isn't in the Releases section which is where it should be.

I lol'd at the ending of LiJ "hmm that may need a bit of work" XD

Actually maybe it SHOULDN'T be in the Releases section because they haven't been RELEASED. HMMMMM.

IAN WE NEED AN UNRELEASES SECTION :whip:

Yeah, I personally don't understand why people are making such a big deal about the demos. They are nice, but not anything particularly good. I will admit that there are some parts of Bloodless Revolution that I like quite a bit (though some other parts of it don't sound very good), but nothing really stands out to me. I do think a lot of the falsetto is really bad. I can imagine the songs growing on me, but still not thinking very highly of them. Maybe I would get a better feel for the songs if I heard them being played by the full band or if they had the chance to evolve more; I don't know.

Now, this is of course meant nothing against Chris or the band. Chris obviously didn't intend for anyone to hear these demos, so there is really no way to criticize him for for doing them. He can't be blamed if they were chosen to not be released. That above paragraph was mainly explaining why all this fuss about the demos doesn't make much sense to me.

Well, I absolutely love The Fall Of Man, The Man Who Swears (the first version), Goodbye and Goodnight, and Bloodless Revolution. They stack up there with anything else that Coldplay have ever done (yes, I know they're demos! But still...)

St. Stephan and First Steps grates on my nerves, though, and I don't really get Loveless. The Lovers In Japan demo is nice, although rough and only really good for completest purposes.

Obviously they didn't get to evolve it more because they're DEMOS. Seriously guys, they're not expected to be good. It's like looking at the first draft of an essay and going, damn that's just not as good as my other essays.

Maybe im wrong but i think

The man who swears(both)=viva la vida

idk it really seems to be the same story to me:thinking:
