Can you judge?

Featured Replies

While i watch vids on youtube i use to read people comments, and is  when some people think to know everything about a band just for one of their videoclips.

so can you judge easily:

you get your final feel about something new for the first impression /

or you give it a proper try and look for more and then decide?

discuss.

and if it fits more the wom section, mods do feel free to move it there, but i'd like it be about judging first impressions in general :)

Some music is just pure shit and if I think it's crap and someone on youtube is singing its praises, yeah I will judge. I am a music snob though admittedly.

when it comes to music, i will ususally have to listen a few times, before i can make a decision.

some songs/ bands get me right away, though. but among my favourite bands ever are quite a few, whom i didn't fall in love with by the first encounter.

i only judge songs i really like on youtube. i very much dislike those daft kids there. they make me feel, that there is no hope for humanity. :disappointed:

I get what you mean, but if hear something by some pop trash girlie band bullshit then no matter how many times I hear it it will suck and therefor must be judged as shit.

yep, shit= shit. no matter what.

i wouldn't torture myself through such a song longer than a couple of seconds, you know.

Nice meeting you:nice:

i'm valerie. hi aaron. :)

Valerie is a beautiful name:nice:

it depends on the beginning of a song... sometimes they start off like any other pop song and it's easy to judge... but like some coldplay songs and muse, etc start off very slow with some kind of awesome intro, but then it can go from a really nice intro to really terrible  ... I think there was a taking back sunday song or from some emo band where I REALLY liked the intro... but the song itself was just hooooorrrrible...

then there are ambient songs, and I listen to a lot of ambient music.... with instrumental ones I can sometimes judge how I will feel about it right away, based on the technique with drums and guitar, if it's going to be a normal band trying to fit into a genre, or a band that MAKES the genre, such as Explosions in the sky......

some songs start off so slow that it's impossible to tell what it will be like...

I don't even think I said anything about videos :disappointed:

judging BANDS by one video? .... well unless the song is just very very very bad... it's never possible to judge a band by one song, because i can probably think of crappy (popular) songs by every band that I like

If the song is very good, and well rounded, it's possible to tell.... or if it's a one-hit wonder... those are usually the simple songs that just happen to sound good one time

That reminds me of "I write sins not tragedies" by Panic at the disco.
