David Beckham may have been devastated after a torn Achilles tendon pulled him off the pitch and shattered his World Cup dreams, but for Victoria Beckham there is a silver lining.

The former Spice Girl, 35, is thrilled her husband is back with the family in Los Angeles.

The footballer has spent much of the last two years in Italy playing for the AC Milan while on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

But he is now spending quality time with his sons Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, seven, and five-year-old Cruz, while he nurses his injury.

Enjoying a night off: Posh told GMTV that she had left her injured husband David in charge of their three sons for the night

'He's doing really great. It's incredible to have him home, he's happy to be home,' she told reporters.

'He's on really great form, really great form. He's hobbling around the house, poor thing.'

Victoria, who was dressed in a black tuxedo suit and trademark towering heels, also confirmed that the 34-year-old still plans to head to South Africa this summer.

However, his precise role with the England squad is still unclear.

She would only say: 'Yes, he's still going to go to the World Cup.

'All the players - both in England and in Milan - have been so sweet and so supportive.'

David was 'inconsolable' last month after his dream of being the first England player to appear in four World Cups were wrecked during AC Milan's 1-0 win over Chievo.

England manager Fabio Capello reportedly asked him to be part of England's backroom staff in a telephone call after the match on March 15.

He is also rumoured to have been offered various commentating roles by TV networks.
