Amplitube

Featured Replies

Just wondering if there's anybody else using this? If there aren't I HIGHLY reccomend it. Basically it's amp sim software. It has a ton of amp heads, cabs, effects and rack gear that you can use and the possibilities are endless, I'm actually going to start using this for live performances as it would be easy enough just to run my guitar through into my audio interface into my laptop into the PA, and it sounds a hell of allot better than allot of amps not so good venues have and allot lighter than lugging a decent tube amp around, and although I never thought I'd say this, it does get pretty damn close to a tube sound if you set it up right.

I've been using it mainly for my metalcore side of things as it's relatively easy to get a decent clean sound, but when I have time to mess around I'm certain there's be some interesting clean sounds to be had.

I'm not such a huge fan of effects I have to run on a PC. I've got my effect board for the guitar. It's a cheap Ibanez TBX150 and it's mine since 2006 or something and I have to say: Since I'm playing it with my Telecaster (original Mexican Fender) and my effectboard I love the sound of my amp and I'm not gonna replace it :)

Is it such a good idea to use your laptop as effectmaker in a live perfomance? What if it crashes or the signal is delayed?

i'm all about guitar rig. i've used amplitube but i think GR is much better.

either that or better presets which maybe that's my fault for not tinkering enough with amplitube.

This has been problem for me whilst running a ton of stuff at the same time at home, but I've never had an issue running just amplitube, and it only seems to lag even with other stuff running it as a plugin for logic. And for the messing around with it thing, try turning off the cabs and use a real cab impulse, I'm using a mesa boogie impulse and the 808 tube screamer through the head based on the 5150 and it sounds pretty close to the real thing.
