Life In Technicolor Music Video

Featured Replies

So, not many people know me on here yet, I'm still worming my way up, but I am a student film maker from the north of the United Kingdom.

A couple of weeks ago, I woke up to Life in Technicolor at the crack of dawn, on the very day I was to be part of the mad rush for Glastonbury tickets.

I was successful.

Since then, every time I hear LIT all I think of is climbing out a tent at dawn next June 30th, the Sunday and last day of Glastonbury (and my 20th Birthday) to go watch some fantastic bands with some incredible friends. And it got me thinking, although its only short, I reckon I could make a nice little music video out of it set on a camping site, and film it next summer before I go to Glastonbury?

For a basic idea, here is an example of my work from before, to give you a feel of the type of productions I go for, if you are interested that is. (if you are, watch in HD!)

So, what do you guys think? Reckon a camp site / music festival is a good visual to match the beautiful noise of LIT?

Thank you for your time you fellow fanboys and girls <3

I love your music video! I prefer it to Paramores :laugh3:

Your idea sounds interesting, do you mean like showing everyone doing the rush from their tents to the acts/stage?

Really? Thank you! its over a year old now, finished it May 2011, got an A* and now I'm studying at university to be a film director :)

yes, exactly! If we use this as an example:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxmH4v0DJiQ]Coldplay - Life in Technicolor - YouTube[/ame]

The first 20 seconds would be a wide shot of Sunrise (sped up) and a shot from inside a tent, as you see a hand open it at down and see the sun flare go across the shot.

From there I am thinking we see, as this person climbs out the tent on a lovely sunny dawn, thousands of others doing the same, wandering around, cooking breakfast, laughing, smiling, having morning cigarettes etc, and then we see the stage being prepared, and time passes to the night, we see people walking to the arena stage, getting their wristbands checked for validity, seeing all the festival offers - waltsers, Ferris wheels, etc etc and then at 1:50, when the final riff kicks in, we see a crowd dancing at a main stage, watching the headline act and drinking and smiling, before going back to the camp site for a midnight smoke, food, and banter around the camp fire as the music fades out.

Its a LONG way of pre-production would even begin, but I thought I'd run it by you lot to see what you think :)

Yeah that's sounds great!

You might have some random guy peeing in a cup and a pot head smoking a joint in the background though :laugh3:

Ohhhhh it wouldn't be filmed at Glastonbury (I wish), I'd hire out actors and sets and locations and film it in about may? :) Thousands of Coldplaying members - Be awesome for us all to meet up, film this, and then send it for the boys to see as a message ;)

I have just had the most amazing idea! Accept me as a friend, I might need your help!

Its not so much private as it is difficult, to a certain extent - I'm gathering you have a lot of fingers in a lot of pies on here and I could need that!

I'll PM you after I chuck on a wash and have a Pot-Noodle (because I am a proper student)

Cool! Didn't understand your metaphor (probably not called a metaphor but oh well), I like pot noodles too, Chinese chow mein :awesome:

You ever tried sneaking 7 JVC Cameras into a stadium of thousands and thousands of people and getting them to do exactly what you want, when you want it, for the best quality video?

Its not a Live DVD, or even a Live Music Video - its a story that needs to be told with actors and it could be cool to have those actors as active members of Coldplaying.com
