Chris Martin and Graham Coxon donate art for charity auction

Ricky Wilson and Rizzle Kicks also create works for Eazl

 

Chris Martin, Graham Coxon and Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson are among 15 celebrities to create art works in aid of mental health charity Eazl.

 

They were given an art box containing an easel, canvas and paints and asked to create work measuring 8"x8" for the 'Art In A Box' series. Others to create works include Jordan Stephens of Rizzle Kicks, Madness singer Suggs, Robyn Hitchcock, Grace Slick, Leigh Francis, Joanna Lumley, Elton John’s lyricist Bernie Taupin and ‘The Fast Show’ comedians Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson.

 

Bids can be placed on the art until May 23 here. The artworks will be displayed at London’s Store Street Gallery from May 19-23.

Needing little introduction, Chris Martin is the lead singer of one of the world’s biggest bands, Coldplay. As well as providing Coldplay with his highly distinctive voice, Chris is a prolific songwriter and plays piano and rhythm guitar on many of the band’s tracks. Leading on from the likes of Blur and Oasis, Chris’ talents helped Coldplay frame the musical zeitgeist around the turn of the Millennium and beyond, with the group showered in awards in both the UK and US. In addition to his a role as Coldplay’s frontman, Chris sang as part of the Band Aid 20 single ‘Do they Know It’s Christmas’ in 2004 and has personally collaborated with Nelly Furtado, Jay Z and Kanye West. Taking an active interest in political and social issues, his previous charity work has included concerted support for Oxfam’s Make Trade Fair campaign. As a band, Coldplay have established a close relationship with the charity Kids Company and are patrons and long-term supporters of Upbeat.
