Thousands of people crowded into Bitts Park in Carlisle yesterday for pop2thepark headlined by the Sugababes and G4. The crowd cheered, danced and partied away to the support bands before the main stars came on stage after 4pm. Next up was G4 who played Carlisle’s Sands Centre last year. Singer and campaigner Bob Geldof has denied reports he plans to stage a Live Aid gig to coincide with the UK hosting July's G8 summit of world leaders. BOB GELDOF is drawing up plans to organise a Live Aid-style concert to highlight world poverty during the G8 summit in Scotland this summer. Organisers of the famous Live Aid concert held in 1985 believe that a televised pop extravaganza featuring world-famous groups would help focus the G8 leaders’ attention on suffering in poor countries.
