Artists have been doing live cover songs for ages. Sometimes the results kick pure ass like newcomer Melanie Fiona’s cover of Kanye West’s Heartless and Jesse McCartney’s cover of the T-Pain pick up song Buy You A Drink. And other times, it falls a little short. Sadly, this is the case with Lady GaGa’s cover of Coldplay’s hit single Viva La Vida.   During Radio 1’s Live Lounge, GaGa took to her keyboard to tackle the song. GaGa didn’t seem to be her 'epic' self while performing the song; she fl

Only The Oracle (like Smarties) has the answer…   September 15, 2008 - submitted by Ravi, United Kingdom Q. I have a Biography called, Nobody says it was Easy by Martin Roach, and in there it says Tim Rice-Oak whatever from Keane gave the name Coldplay, but you said it was Tim Crompton, so he made a mistake, in a biography, that's kind of silly don't you think? The Oracle replies: Yes I agree. Nobody said It Was Easy is an unofficial biography of Coldplay by Martin Roach. He's written many books

The re-recording of Band Aid's classic hit by a Who's Who of contemporary stars was broadcast for the first time today.   The likes of Coldplay's Chris Martin, Dido and Robbie Williams are heard on the track, whose original featured George Michael, U2 and Duran Duran. Radio Five Live's Nicky Campbell, who played the Band Aid 20 record this morning, said it had "a more melancholic, soulful feel than the original".   The new version of Do They Know It's Christmas? does not have jingle bells ringin

As expected there was massive demand when the first batch of tickets for the much-anticipated Coldplay homecoming concert went on sale yesterday, so much so that the Little Noise Sessions website crashed under the weight of demand for those elusive tickets.   With just 500 spots at the Exeter Castle gig up for grabs, fans who had pre-registered at littlenoisesessions.org.uk were expected to log on to the site at 4pm yesterday for the first opportunity to get their hands on one of the coveted

As this album captures beautifully, when Coldplay are live you just cannot help but love them!"   Few live albums present an accurate picture of what a live concert is really like, writes Altsounds in the latest online review of Coldplay's Live 2012 film. Johnny Cash achieved it with ‘At Folsom Prison’ and so did The Who with ‘Live at Leeds.’ The secret to success when releasing a concert in purely audio format is recording the entire thing; fan interaction, cheers and gasps of the crowd and le

Coldplay's Live 2012 concert film has now been released worldwide. It documents the Mylo Xyloto world tour, which has been seen by more than three million people since it began in June 2011. The disc includes footage from Coldplay's shows at Paris's Stade de France, Montreal's Bell Centre and the band's Pyramid Stage headline performance at Glastonbury 2011.   Last week, Coldplayers around the world watched the Live 2012 cinema screening ahead of the physical release, and this article focuses on

According to the following article from Rolling Stone magazine, the Live8 dvd will feature the whole Coldplay performance in Hyde Park.   Live 8 Gets Four-Part DVD Set features "Sgt. Pepper" duet, Pink Floyd reunion and more   A four-disc DVD set of the nine international concerts held on July 2nd as part of Live 8, an initiative organized by Bob Geldof to pressure the G8 to address extreme poverty in Africa, will be released on November 8th. It was dubbed the greatest show on earth, but superstar Sir Elton John has criticised Live 8 for lacking a "sense of occasion".   The singer said there were not enough musical highlights, despite Madonna, Robbie Williams, Pink Floyd, The Who, Sir Paul McCartney and Coldplay taking to the Hyde Park stage.   Sir Elton, who is known for getting into trouble over his frank views, told The Daily Telegraph: "I thought it was a bit of an anti-climax, to be honest.

It's the song that became synonymous with Live Aid, the transatlantic concert which raised £60million for Ethiopia's starving children. And now two decades later Status Quo are set to go Rockin' All Over The World again and kick off Live Aid II.   Music industry execs are hammering out plans for a new mega-gig to take place next summer. Coldplay, The Darkness and Jamelia have already signed up for Band Aid III, where they will record an up-to-date version of Do They Know It's Christmas?   Tentat

Bosses of a major British stadium are calling on bands like Coldplay, U2 and The Darkness to help raise millions for the victims of the Asian tsunami - by performing at a Live Aid-style extravaganza.   Chiefs at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, are frantically trying to gain the support of their country's politicians in their quest to stage a fundraising concert for the men, women and children left homeless, starving and at risk from disease in the aftermath of the 26 December 2004 disa
