Capitol Records' release schedule will have a British flair in March, when the label will issue highly anticipated, as-yet-untitled new albums from Coldplay and Doves, Billboard.com has learned. Doves' set will arrive March 1; the Coldplay album does not have a definitive street date. Produced by Ken Nelson, who was behind the boards for the band's two prior studio sets, the Coldplay album was recorded in London and New York. It's the follow-up to 2002's "A Rush of Blood to the Head," which pe

The 10" single that will be hitting record shops on January 29th, includes two cover versions - Britney's Toxic and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face (originally by Coldplay). Even more surprising, the Toxic cover features Dirty McGirt AKA rapper ODB. Both songs act as a predecessor to Ronson's Version album, which will see the talented studio producer covering 12 classic tracks. The LP

Coldplay's Chris Martin has been beating himself up for believing tabloid gossip about his fellow celebrities. Since marrying skinny Gwyneth Paltrow Martin has been under the media spotlight and according to ContactMusic.com hates it when the papers invent stories about him and his family. He is often forced to control his anger when fans quiz him and about the crap they have read. However, this does not stop him from reading the gossip columns and often flicks through a showbiz magazine. He

Vocal green campaigner Chris Martin has been embarrassed by his father, who wants to build 160 houses on a protected environmental site. The Coldplay rocker, who is expecting his first child with his Hollywood star wife Gwyneth Paltrow, has used his fame to highlight social and environmental issues, but his dad has created controversy in his home town of Exeter, England with his building plans. Locals are so incensed at Anthony Martin's application to build the houses on a protected 'green f

Coldplay singer Chris Martin - he just recently bought a new house with his wife, y'know (I read it in thelondonpaper) - is among a group of vocalists expected to appear on Jay-Z's forthcoming album. The rapper's coming-out-of-retirement long-player (did he ever really retire, though?) has a working title of Kingdom Come. Which is a little better than B'Day we suppose. Silly Mrs Z. Also due to appear on the album are Dr Dre and Kanye West, which leads us to wonder: is there anyone yet to w

‘Talk’ available on vinyl on March 6 Borrowing the riff from Kraftwerk's 'Computer Love', the utterly hypnotic 'Talk' is driven by Will Champion's insistent, metronomic beats and Jonny Buckland's ethereal chiming guitars. However, the new 12" release sees the eight minutes Thin White Duke Mix of the track and on side two, the FrancoisK Dub mix and the over 11 minutes long Junkie XL Mix. 'Talk' came out as a single in November 2005 and was the third single to be taken from Coldplay's multi-pl

Coldplay at Big Weekend, BBC Radio 1 festival in Glasgow It was 9.55 PM in the UK, 4.55 PM in the US (eastern time) and Coldplay were about to step on stage to one of the most explosive gigs they have ever done! Glaswegian fans have a high reputation for being very involved during festivals and gigs and today was no exception! Coldplay wasted no time at all pulling out the big hitters from the word go starting with a closer to a few previous shows, Paradise. The song then transcended into Charl

As part of Coldplaying's Erasmus boat trip excursion for Coldplay's Christmas Lights video last month, Coldplay roadies Matt McGinn and Miller, along with fifth member Phil Harvey were able to provide some excellent online Q&A to Coldplayers who were on the boat (and some who weren't). First up to answer our questions, is long-time roadie Matt McGinn, who answers questions on Pretty Woman, the music industry, guitar strings, new instruments for LP5 to name but a few. You can discuss the Q&am

Quadruple UK Olympic gold medalist Matthew Pinsent was interviewed recently... amongst finding a lost dog he has a few words on Coldplay: What was the last CD you bought? Ooh, good question. It's been a while, actually. Probably Coldplay. I'm very eclectic - I go from classical through to Norah Jones to Coldplay. Wait one second [after a short pause and a shout of "coming", Matthew returns]. Sorry about that, the neighbour's lost his dog. [Really? asks Small Talk] Yeah, but he's just turned up

San Francisco - San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom boosted his hipness factor after spending about 15 minutes chatting with members of Coldplay on local radio. Newsom, 36, called in to KLLC-FM to express his admiration for the band, quiz its members about recent performances and welcome them to the San Francisco Bay area. In return, singer and frontman Chris Martin and drummer Will Champion invited Newsom to the band's show at the Fillmore - 1 100 tickets sold out in mere seconds on Sunday.

Chris Martin has been advised to stop sulking and start drinking by good friend Ian McCulloch - because it will lighten him up. Coldplay was left devastated by the acid response of US critics to his third album X&Y, who labelled Coldplay "the most insufferable band of the decade". And Echo And The Bunnymen star McCulloch [pictured left] urges his sensitive friend to join him on a drinking spree to toughen him up - a quality McCulloch believes is essential if Martin is to survive as a roc

Chris Martin's drab media image has been dismissed by Embrace frontman Danny McNamara, who insists the singer is the most charismatic man he's met. The pair became firm friends after Coldplay supported Embrace at a UK gig in 2000, and McNamara [pictured] is furious journalists keep portraying his pal as a geek. He says, "The perception of Chris is so far from the truth, it's hilarious. People think he's dull but he's the most exciting man I've ever met. He's always switched on. You feel like

Having Coldplay singer Chris Martin pop round to your flat to watch TV isn't something that happens to most people. But for Jules Segal, being with celebrities is becoming almost passé. He is on first-name terms with everyone from Cherie Blair to Jonathan Ross and a host of other famous names, including Lawrence Dallaglio, George Galloway, Charles Kennedy and Lord Kinnock. So far, the highlight of his hunt has been his unexpected meeting with Chris Martin. Mr Segal said: "Chris lives pretty

The Independent, The Sun and the Telegraph have all written a piece on this topic in the last few hours. Three of the UK's broadsheet newspapers (as well as a couple of tabloids) have published online reviews of Coldplay's latest performance at the Roundhouse in London on 22nd July for the iTunes Festival. Generally the reviews have been positive, barring a couple of embarrasing errors. The Guardian made up a new Coldplay song entitled 'Fix It' but was later rectified, whilst the Telegraph still has Viva La Vida written as 'When I Ruled The World'. Meanwhile, The Sun were more interested in repor

Construction work at Exeter Castle has nearly been completed in preparation for the much-anticipated Coldplay gig. There are now just two days until the stripped-back performance. The following letter has been published online via Exeter's Express & Echo ahead of tomorrow's gig for Big Noise Sessions and Mencap. The letter urges Coldplay not only to record the gig for an official release but to play at a larger venue in Exeter this time next year. Here's the contents of said letter... It is great that Chris Martin and his band and friends are to play a pre-Christmas charity concert, albeit for a very limited audience. The idea of recording the gig for future release
