  1. Who else has a family now besides Chris? And its just Chris' humour coming out when he says its their last album because he's too difficult to work with. Its weird though, because one day Chris will announce that its their last album and nobody will believe him. :p
  2. Maybe he's not a very good song writer. I like how I can relate to a lot of his songs, but he has run out of metaphors and such. ;) Very Jack Johnson-ish. That man will be writing about the oceans and waves and the stars on his 11th album. :p
  3. Does it bother you that there are so many songs from X&Y on the internet? Wouldn't you rather be surprised?
  4. You got caught taping when you weren't supposed to be. I'm a Coldplay fan, but you knew the rules, and I can't really feel sorry for you unless you're illiterate and couldn't read the signs or warnings and such. If that's the case, I feel sorry for you in a different way. And I hope the album doesn't leak, like another poster stated. Why would I want to hear a leaked version before Coldplay actually wanted to unveil it? I'll hear it the day it's released.
  5. I'm stoopid and couldn't find any info on The Edge website concerning a live stream. Anyone find it?
  6. I'm not going to listen to a single song before the album comes out. I'm staying an X&Y virgin until the day of release. :)
  7. Yeah Wayne, how did you ever think, "Ooooh, maybe its written in Baudot Code! EUREKA!!!!" not really - i'd not heard of baudot code before  to cut a long story short, i started working out ascii codes using 10-bits but quickly changed to five bits (pairs of colours, e.g. black and grey, representing a single bit rather than two). This gave D = 9 , E = 1, F = 13 and so on. having three letters (D, E, F) that were next to each other in the alphabet was a great help because it looked likely (from the above numbers) that there was no obvious logical pattern to the numbers that the letters represented. So, i thought, it must've been some specific 5-bit encoding scheme. The good old internet gave me some stuff to sift through on various 5-bit encoding schemes, eventually turning up Baudot. A quick run through all 10 letters we currently have matched up and therefore baudot was probably the one. The deciphering of the secret gig wrist band to discover LIVE was ultimate proof. I felt well smug :smug:  Props to owenrees though for spotting the dashes matching up to letters ! As regards the & in X&Y, it takes up two columns (the first being the figure shift, the second the character), it's been pointed out that it's not an ampersand. It is actually a hypen, giving X-Y. I suppose that's either as they intended or they're using some slight variation on baudot encoding that gives a different bit pattern for &. Good stuff though innit ? :) You are the smartest man alive for cracking this. Now do my homework.
  8. Yeah Wayne, how did you ever think, "Ooooh, maybe its written in Baudot Code! EUREKA!!!!"
  9. The little lines in the "Speed of Sound" cover make it obvious that the letters of the song title fit in there, but I'm not sure if I would have looked closely enough to realize that the blocks in the columns associated with the same letter, say "S" for example, are the same.
  10. So its cracked? So there's nothing else that needs to be done? Well that's not much of a secret if it doesn't lead to something big. :(
  11. What the hell did you just do? EDIT: I just posted the pictures and this thread at another forum because many of them are computer folk and may be able to figure it out easier than us.
  12. Not really. I just think the entire thing is pretentious, and everyone who is going along with it and praising it is just another sheep of the Coldplay herd. I love Coldplay, but putting obscure artforms on your album cover has a level of snobbiness to it. I love art, and I loved the cover to AROBTTH, but this is a bit much.
  13. The cover is ugly as sin. THe use of a grid may indicate X and Y coordinates like in math, but its still boring. Original doesn't always equate to "good." The reason it has never been done may be because its so ugly that everyone else scrapped the album artwork, while Coldplay thought it was cool.
  14. I live in Australia, and MTV.com.au was having this contest as well, but since I don't live in a European country, I'm out of luck. Does that sound right? ;) Anyway, if I were American, I'd check MTV.com. If you can't find it there, you're out of luck. Canadians can look at MTV.ca. Wow, smart forum. Glad to be part of it. :sneaky: Linky-poo: http://www.mtv.com.au/Funstuff/Contests/coldplay_xy/
  15. lmao!   awww Nick :D PS: Talk is awesome! I LOVE IT! :D Isn't it great ! :) It is! And I love the lyrics! Specially this part: "I feel like I’m going where I’ve been before" because that's how I always felt..and of course.. no one understood or understands now... I'm such an odd person but whatever... I just love the song. My heart was breaking the first time I heard it... PS: I just got your song. It's d/ling right now ;) Yeah, nobody else understood until now...... riiiiiight. You're such an odd person.........riiiiiiight. its not even a unique thought. Not at all. I love Coldplay, but c'mon, its not like he's inventing new feelings or something. He's not even expressing something that hasn't been in different ways in other songs. I love Coldplay songs, but sometimes I just feel like hardcore fans are blindfolded, and someone has to go open their eyes. Fanboys just go too far with the praise sometimes..... Can't wait to hear the whole thing. I don't wanna spoil it by only listening to a part of it, so I'll stay an X&Y virgin until the release of the album!!!
  16. And even if it was finished, they're not releasing it this fiscal year. So again, April at the very earliest, but May or June are possible. Its not being released in early 2005 anymore. Next fiscal year release. That's the point of the article, in my opinion.
  17. They didn't say April. They said April at the very earliest, as that is when the new fiscal quarter year begins. So the album may be released in April, May, June, July.....whenever EMI thinks is the best time for a Coldplay release. Or maybe they can just release it now, earn some cash, and raise their bottom line this year!! "And in today's news, Coldplay has single-handedly earned enough money for EMI to bring them from below-expected earnings, to a record year!!" Heh, it could happen :wink3:
  18. That's the first thing I thought as well when I saw the tracklist. No track 12? It could be possible that Track 12 is a hidden track, much like Life Is For Living, but I'm not so sure. And a song called Deja Vu seems so.......bleh.
  19. For all the Londoners/UK'ers out there, he bought the jacket at Selfridges, if I remember correctly. Actually, I read that bit of info in an interview of some sort posted on this site, so it should be around.
  20. Abstract replied to Sidious's topic in Coldplay
Nope, they would even throw the best song away, like 'gravity' :dozey: :idea2: Oooh, dude's got a point. Hehe. I wish they just went back to their Parachutes sound instead.
  21. Abstract replied to Sidious's topic in Coldplay
Paranoid Android....meh, never liked OK Computer. The Bends was one of the best albums of all time, though. Hope it's not electronic-based too much. I'm thinking of 70's crap thats sort of dance-y type stuff. I'm thinking about several Scissor Sisters songs right now. :(
  22. While all of this is fascinating, we still don't know what the songs sound like. And I doubt there would be any leaks of this. How many industry execs are going to start recording live performances to leak and risk losing their jobs? And the part about Track 12 being the only one they can do at the mo --- well, they may be so electronic-based that it wouldn't sound remotely like the songs on their new album, so Track 12 was one of the obvious choices for the Chris and Will to play. It'll be called "How To Build An Atomic Bomb.......and Destroy U2"
  23. All the descriptions of electronic drum beats and synths and such makes this album sound as if it'll be overproduced. I hope this doesn't end up like a David Gray "A New Day At Midnight" bomb. I could name other bands and other albums, but when he made White Ladder with more electronic beats and such, it was fine. It was "A New Day..." that took it too far. I hope Coldplay doesn't take it too far.
  24. I think the first 6 songs on your list will be on the new album, because that's what we have been told directly from their mouths. I think the rest of your list is flat-out wrong, and they would be dumb if they ever released any of those tracks on a studio album. I heard some of those songs nearly 2 years ago.
  25. ^^ :stunned:
