  1. Then you must have LOVERS IN JAPAN, my dear new best friend :o)
  2. Of course, the review above is a joke made up by NEW YORK ENTAIRTENEMENT but real reviews of the album should start to appear soon, don't you think? Like when is to be released next Q magazine?
  3. That would be nice to all post them in a the same place.. Here's THE NEW YORK ENTAIRTENEMENT Over the weekend, popular soft-rock combo Coldplay announced the details of their long-awaited fourth album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, due on June 17. As we were leaving the office on Friday, we were clubbed over the head, drugged, and transported via helicopter to the top-secret island (Britain) on which Chris Martin & Co. have been plotting their imminent comeback. When we regained consciousness, we found ourselves tied to a chair in a Batcave-esque underground recording studio where a Coldplay publicist, in between bouts of maniacal laughter, offered to let Vulture be the first blog in the entire blogosphere to hear a finished copy of the new record. What follows is our exclusive track-by-track preview. 1. "Life in Technicolor" Like much of Coldplay's best work, "Life in Technicolor" examines the nature of romantic love through a rudimentary understanding of things taught in high-school science class. Backed by soaring strings, horns, a harp, and several dozen gospel choirs, Chris Martin compares the song's female subject to the colors of the visible spectrum. The track, whose melody borrows liberally from John Williams's "Theme From Star Wars," ends abruptly when Martin fails to recall the difference between wavelength and frequency. 2. "Cemeteries of London" Following his recent collaborations with Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Swizz Beatz, Martin indulges his love for hip-hop on this bombastic club banger. Over blaring sirens and Mannie Fresh synthesizers, he raps, "The cemeteries of London, they sure ain't much fun / And if you slag off Coldplay, we'll put you in one." The album's weakest moment. 3. "Lost!" This aching piano ballad chronicles the tumultuous relationship between a pair of lovers (Martin and Paltrow?) as they attempt to catch up with Lost's fourth season by watching DVDs of the first three in marathon sessions. The chorus includes the refrain: "Who are the Others and why can't they breed? / And what will become of Kate, Locke, and Sayid?" Gorgeous. 4. "42" Some have speculated that the title of this upbeat track is an allusion to Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as Martin is an admitted fan of the book. Actually, it's a tribute to the 42 people who currently hold the Guinness World Record for the largest number of persons to fit in a car at once (the Moss Bay Majorettes from Jacksonville, Florida, who crammed into a Jaguar XJ6 in August of 1984). All silliness is undercut by the song's minor key and 26-minute orchestral coda. A highlight. 5. "Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love" A slow R&B jam, sung in Martin's sexy, rarely used baritone, about the various ways in which he'd romance you in Japan, including karaoke, a meal at a nice sushi restaurant, and front-row tickets to a championship sumo-wrestling match. By the second verse, it becomes obvious that he's never actually been to Japan. The album's weakest moment. 6. "Yes" This weepy acoustic-guitar ballad is named for the way Martin hopes the band's fans in Prescott, Wisconsin, will vote on an upcoming increase for the city's school budget. (After his campaigning for John Kerry in 2004 failed to elect the senator, he's pledged to become better involved in local politics where he feels he can make more of a difference.) 7. "Viva la Vida" Though this song is named after a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, it's actually just "Yellow" sung in Spanish. The album's weakest moment. 8. "Violet Hill" This hard-rocking track is about the Violet Hill Bed and Breakfast in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Martin saw it online once and has just always really wanted to go there. 9. "Strawberry Swing" According to Rolling Stone: "This is one of several potential album cuts with Afro-pop and high-life influences. Here, distortion-free finger-picked guitars which sound straight out of Mali mix with a heavy bassline and psychedelic synths. 'My Mum comes from Zimbabwe, so I spent a lot of time there,' says Martin." (This was actually funnier than anything we could come up with.) 10. "Death and All His Friends" Despite its depressing-sounding title, this is actually a sweet piano ballad in which Martin pledges to love a woman until "death and all his friends" (which presumably include old age, various cancers, and an appreciation for the History Channel) turn up. It was around this point that we fell asleep.
  4. Lovers In Japan is on Itunes Store France If you pre order the album for 9€99, you'll get the acoustic " LOST " as a bonus when the album is on line AND RIGHT NOW.. You get " Lovers In Japan " acoustic (that they make you pay) So " Lovers In Japan " acoustic should leak pretty soon
  5. You can also add George Bush father & son, but the difference is, where Napoleon has declared himself Emperor, people have voted 3 times for the Bush family.. You can also add Margaret Tatcher... all of them have blood upon their hands.. And soon probably Nicolas Sarkozy as he's planning to send more french troops in Afghanistan.. But dude, you can't say that the french revolution was bad, you seem to have no clue of all the freedom that it gave to the people of France.... you only spot the " bad points "... that would be way too long for me to explain you the difference between before 1789 & after that.. But your point of view, 200 years later, is pretty funny... That's as much ridicoulous that to remain you the foundations of your country which starts with a genocide of thousands of the Native Americans .. does it ring a bell to you?

  7. OOOoops, oh yeah, by the way : THANK YOU FOR THE LINK TO THE SONG..
  8. I can't vote cause there's not the option " Brillant song as good as Violet Hill is " That's my thought anyway.. both differents songs, but Coldplay at its best... for sure
  9. LOL... What's the point listening to a MP3 encoded in 192 kbps on a 5.1 home theater? ain't it a bit like putting ice in a glass of champagne. Wait to have the CD, the power of the instruments, of the sound, will be much more improved...
  10. and on the other hand we got HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB By U2... HUGE COMMERCIAL SUCCESS WHAT'S THE STORY MORNING GLORY By Oasis... HUGE COMMERCIAL SUCCESS THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON By Pink Floyd... HUGE COMMERCIAL SUCCESS
  11. But only 2 ears and 24 hours in a day... :o)
  12. WOW.. You must have something like 35 times different versions of " the scientist " Is the one played in Tokyo novembre 2004 is better than the manchester ones august 2005? On the other hand.. I collect Beatles & Springsteen bootlegs.. So I'd better keep my mouth shut
  13. You have DISCOVERED bands with 30 second samples... Fair enough, but you HAVE NOT SAID this song is better than this one, based on a 30 second sample..That would be as stupid as saying : This movie trailer is much more better than a whole other movie.. That's what this topic is about... And surely not : I only got money for one book but I'm tempted by 5 of them .. If a train leaves city A at 8.00 am traveling at the speed of 130 miles per hour etc...
  14. Judging a book with having read only one single chapter, pretty interesting concept... though they were only doing it on french telly
  15. Definitely one of x&y but I can't pick up one, cause it's the only one of their album that I listen like an " whole ". While Parachutes & A RUSH OF BLOOD... are pretty good TV SHOWS like, let's say HOUSE M.D & LOST X&Y is a movie. A brillant one, something you gotta watch from the very first minute till the end. Let's say it's almost " CASABLANCA " or whatever...
  16. " Coldplay fans were more sophisticated ".. LOL... I remember an interview of Chris Martin, one of the first time they were in Q Magazine, just when Parachutes came out, where he was bashing a band.. I can't remember the name of the band actually.. but I bet it was his way to respect each others taste in Music and all that.. or maybe he was trying to sound like a Gallagher Bro. Geeeez, are we all supposed to think, to talk, to act the same way 'cause we love Coldplay? Then are we gonna date the same kind of women, wear the same clothes and all that? To be fan of a band, as far as I'm concerned, means that I enjoy their albums, the art they are producing and that I'm always curious to discover their new material or to see them on stage.. I ain't gonna stop to eat meat 'cuz Chris Martin does and I ain't gonna " trade " my brunette for a Gwyneth Looklike.. Now Chris Martin could go crazy and sleep in an oxygen chamber and built himself a fairy tale castle in the middle of nowhere, as long as he's doing good music (with the other 3), that would be fine with me.. I guess we were just kidding about Green Day.. I don't give a damn about them, their music or whatever you call it... Now if Chris Martin start to ask his fans to shave their heads and walk naked, don't you think you're gonna get a cold? C'mon, Martin, Gallagher, Lennon etc... they are or they were, just musicians...Bloody talented ones, but only musicians... and to quote one of them (Dylan) : Don't follow leaders... Greetings from France
  17. Any VIVA LA VIDA Wallpaper to fit on my MacBook 13.3-inch? Please...
  18. costello replied to alyssa's topic in Coldplay
Huh, by the way, I was joking earlier... I'm very impressed by her talent
  19. costello replied to alyssa's topic in Coldplay
Is he still dating Demi Moore?
  20. Damn you're right... my plan was not such a good plan.. any ideas to get rid of Green Day? To turn off the radio when they're on is a start, but it's not enough
  21. Oh thank you, you've ruined my day... Do they plan a tour somewhere in.... huh, let's say Irak? Bagdad would be a great place for them to make a show..
  22. Now please tell me, you don't really mean that Green Day is a proper band making music? Right? Thought they were " jumping on the bandwagon " by trying to be punk, then rock, then pop, then emo... are they planning to work on a new album with Timberlake and Puff Diddy or something?
  23. I've enjoyed a lot the snippet, sounds very promising to me.. somewhere between Mother Of The.... on The Joshua Tree and One Step Closer on How To Dismantle.. by U2 Plus, I can hear a little touch of Beatles " Tomorrow Never Knows " & Within You Without You " And also " Who Feels Love " from Oasis... Geeeez, I'm so desperate to listen to the full song that my imagination sees or hears stuffs when there's only a 30 seconds snippets.... LET IT LEAK :o)
  24. Yup... for me it's way better & stronger than A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD... x&y stands among THE JOSHUA TREE, ACHTUNG BABY, OK COMPUTER, DEFINITELY MAYBE, REVOLVER, ABBEY ROAD... albums which are much more than a collection of singles, albums which are much more than just music.. it's art.. if a RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD is Keeley Hazell page 3 topless model, then X&Y is timeless Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn etc..
