  1. Muller (director) shot the video at King's Cross three days before the bombings on the 7/7/05. If my calculation is correct, Coldplay were playing at Bolton that night. My suggestion - in hindsight, would have been to have Chris doing one of his walking shots through Horwich Asda next door, and then trotting into the stadium like the rest of us did. Personally, I would NOT have used live footage for part of the video for this type of song if I had directed. The video does grow on you but London / Bolton - just can't shake it off....
  2. Have we all seen the same video? What a huge disapointment. 1 month in waiting of showing footage from one of the best gigs of the year at Bolton. The beginning looks like it has been filmed in some London suburb (Kings Cross), so how the hell does Chris manage to run onto a stage in Bolton? It's also a direct rip off of U2's 'sometimes you can't make it on your own' - singer walks the streets then walks into gig and sings with band - how original! The edited footage of the gig is painfull to the eye, short half second clips doesn't allow you to focus on anything at all - totally uncomfortable and un-entertaining to watch - even the fireworks are milliseconds long. The show was so powerful but looks so 'edited' and bland on this video. Would have preferred to see the footage of Glastonbury used for this promo video. From a true Coldplay fan, I give this video 1/10, and is for the effort. Sorry guys, but just because it's Coldplay won't make me say it's good.
  3. fantastic pictures
  4. I do believe that the vocals were live, and also believe that each member of the band did their own thing live. But even if synths are used in studio sessions by the band, a session musician as 'guest' would be more genuine than KNOWING we're listening to a backing synth track that the band HAS to follow. Keane are a fine example of not being fully live - where is their bass player???
  5. Well thanks all for the replys, some of us still feel cheated as Chris said they had chosen THAT night, still look forward to the video though. Should just show the band as they performed, no need to gloss anything up, they were excellent.
  6. I noticed on several occations that when the band do a live appearance on TV of Speed of Sound, I can't help but focus on both sets of keyboards to see if anyone is actually playing them. Come on guys, lets have the truth, of the current tour, are there ANY tracks that don't have a backing track to? On one screening, Chris got up too early, only to leave the piano still playing it's final couple of notes????
  7. The old version does not fit in with the album. 1st time I heard it some months ago thought it was fantastic as it was new material. I now prefer the album version for its complexity. The question is, how many other 'old/new' songs could appear in time?
  8. My view on this is, remember Duran Duran 20 years ago? What the hell were they on when they wrote? Save a prayer for what? If a tune is catchy with a rhythm that never leaves your head, it's worked. Almost all Coldplay songs have this effect on us...
  9. On my tickets for Bolton Reebok, it stated NO PROFESSIONAL CAMERAS. As small digital cameras are not this type, they must be excluded. I was seen with mine by stewards at the end and had no bother. All down to the venue and rules on the ticket. Read it carefully.
  10. Not too good due to the pushing and shoving of an excited crowd, but so what, bring back memories for me...
  11. Took camera into U2, Oasis and Coldplay no problem. Into the front of sock on the shin, once in, slip it into baggy pocket out of the way of security vision. Once in the middle of crowd, hey presto... If caught, say goodbye to camera.
  12. Coldplay, Monday night, what an experience! It was nothing less than I expected but more. Having watched Oasis on Sunday night at City of Man Stadium that sounded poor although a good show, I was honoured to watch Coldplay in my home town, and experience the best sound system I've heard in years that complimented every sound that this band delivers. The music didn't just move my emotions, it also shook my clothes - loud! Fantastic performance from the boys and their team. An excellent line up of old and new favorites. The drawback to the venue was the double queing for drinks and the car parking... 2 hours to get out of the car park, forgotten about now, but the show lives on. Come back to Bolton Coldplay, we'll all park on Asda next time. 10/10 . A few photos to follow when learned how to upload to server. I'm sure that we all want to know when one of the gigs will be broadcast on telly like Oasis did (within a week)... everybody keep eyes peeled.
  13. Who else went on Monday night to feel cheated when the news came around that the video shoot was Tuesday too....?
