  1. Yes! It is possible! I taught myself keyboard only a few monthes back. Now, given that I'm still working on reading sheet music and will have to ask someone for help soon on theory and stuff, I can pretty much play Coldplay songs on the keyboard. However, I did play guitar before so I knew some of the theory behind music. Let me know how you progress and good luck
  2. haha, I first learned the Scientist too! Yeah, it's not too hard of a song to play but it's soooo fun to play it. It was really cool, I had just begun to learn the keyboard and I figured out how to play this song in about an hour. However, i did play guitar before and the logic of piano just really made sense to me.
  3. Sorry guys, stupid computer problems
  4. Oh yeah, great work by the way. One of the best covers I've heard in a long time
  5. Oh yeah, great work by the way. One of the best covers I've heard in a long time
  6. Hey wayne, what is the effect you guys use for the keyboard? Some kind of synthesizer? I've been trying to figure that out for a while now.
  7. Hey Steph, I taught myself how to play guitar from scratch. It was one of the most exhiliarating things that I have ever done. I used lessons online and I bought a couple of books. It does take time and a LOT of practice. But it's really rewarding in the end. I think my first song was John Lennon's Imagine. haha. Anyways, good luck and let me know if you need any help.
  8. sign me up if you guys need a someone to play the tambourine
  9. hey emel, I definitely will. I don't even know if the new David Gray songbook is out yet. I bet you it's not so i'm gonna have to wait. I just started piano right now and I'm trying to learn how to read sheet music. It's going good so far though. I love it
  10. Yeah, i'm planning to buy the new David Gray piano book when it comes out. You guys should definitely listen to his new album. Songs like Slow motion and Disappearing world.....so good. Can't wait to play them on piano
  11. hey Shanecrofts! Thanks a lot! I completely forgot about the sharps there. Now, it all makes sense. ha ha, I'm just so used to reading tabs that sheet music may take some practice. But i'm starting to get the hang of it. Anyways, thanks again. Cheers
  12. Hey guys, I just started to teach myself how to play piano this summer. I'm trying to get a grasp on how to read sheet music (which to me right now is the hardest part about the piano). Can you guys check this sheet music out. http://www.qualitysheetmusic.com/files/SimplePlan-Untitled.pdf I don't know if the sheet music is transcribed wrong or if there is something wrong with me. Check out the first verse. So you play a D with your right hand while playing B, D, B, F (E sharp?!), B, F again, then B. It doesn't sound anything like the song. Can anyone please help me? I'm totally confused
  13. which sites? Could you give us a link?
  14. Or any new David Gray would be awesome. His new album has a lot of great Piano songs....argh!!! I wish there could be a David Gray "Kapone" to help us. lol
  15. you know, glarbinator does have a point. Looking back at it, learning how to sing and play guitar was not an easy thing to do. ha ha. I remember the process from can't sing, to singing a few words, to finally managing to sing (very badly) a song and then to sing while playing guitar. The funny thing is that once I've mastered a song on guitar and can play with ease, I find that sometimes I'll forget the lyrics and I'm like "damn it! that should be the easy part!". So yeah, just keep working on it man. Master the song on guitar first, memorize the lyrics. Start with easy songs first. Wonderwall would be a good start.
  16. one of the easiest but most catchiest guitar riff is White Stripes - Seven Nation Army. It's just a baseline but it's really fun to play
  17. Hawksley Workman, Jeremy Fisher, Jacksoul, Daniel Powter, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Hot Hot Heat, K-Os...i know i'm all over the map but My absolute favorite band right now (after Coldplay) is the Arcade Fire
  18. John mayer has some great B-Sides. But I would say Oasis is probably the best
  19. David Mead - Nashville David Mead - Queensboro Bridge Simon and Garfunkel - Only boy living in New York Damien Rice - Prague Dishwalla - Nashville Skyline
  20. When A Rush of Blood to the Head came out, a lot of people criticized Coldplay for copying Radiohead. I was undecided at the time because I liked both bands. But once X&Y came out, I knew that Coldplay's music was completely different from Radiohead, which is a good thing because I thought Hail to the Thief was complete shit. Oh and Keane does suck. Sorry to all their fans out there.
  21. Hey Kevin, Thanks so much for signing the declaration. I wasn't expecting anyone to even notice my signature, ha ha. I'm a big supporter of the one campaign. To me, making poverty history is such an important and relevant issue in our society. I was so glad that they held the Live 8 concert which attracted so much attention and support. I think this is why I love Coldplay so much. They're musicians who also fight for causes and are aware of what's going on around them. Anyways, about U2's "one". It's a super easy song to play. Maybe we can talk about it in another thread cause I think we're taking up too much of Kapone's space. lol. Oh, and I'm really glad you're enjoying the guitar. 26 is never too old to start learning. I taught myself when I was 18. Give me a shout if you need help in any way.
  22. Hey Kevin, Good luck on your guitar playing man. I taught myself a few years back and I remember that the first few monthes were extremely frustrating. Don't feel bad if you don't get it at first. And don't forget to try to learn how to fingerpick too. Fingerpicking takes a lot of patience to learn but it is very rewarding for any guitarist. Practice hard man. Good luck.
  23. Whoa, that was fast. Awesome job Kapone! Thanks a lot man. How do you find the time to do all this tabbing? I find it fun as well but I think I've only had the patience to tab out like maybe 5 or 6 songs in my life
