Philly Sign Gang Thread!!!! [2008]
Do you think the signs should say "Viva La Coldplay" or "USA Loves Coldplay" or possibly something different? It'd be a good idea to either do a play on a song title or something really generic. But I dunno what else there'd be to do! Also, I realize money is going to be an issue. Does anybody have any ideas on a fair way to handle this? Dave

Philly Sign Gang Thread!!!! [2008]
Yeah that's true. Should we try and contact Oxfam again? If we're stapling a note to the signs, we could just as easily package an Oxfam booklet with them. Sean, can you PM with everyone who signed up thus far? Dave

A Brilliant Idea!!!!!
Well if you think about it, perfume is really an "ode" to deodorant Dave

Philly Sign Gang Thread!!!! [2008]
I wrote up something REALLY quick. It's a complete rough draft. It litterally took my 2 minutes to write. But you can get the jist. We can collectively edit. I apologize in advance for any spelling/grammar mistakes. I never got a chance to proofread :) Dear Coldplay Fan, On April 6, 2006, Coldplay performed the last show of the American leg of their Twisted Logic tour right here at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Thanks to the hardworking and dedicated fans from the message board on http://www.coldplaying.com, the band was greeted with thousands of fans holding up signs reading "USA Loves Coldplay." Over two years later when Coldplay returned to the Wachovia Center on their current Viva La Vida tour, fans once again rallied together to present the band with a sea of signs (this time reading "USA Still Loves Coldplay" and "Viva La Coldplay.") On both occasions the band has expressed their sincere gratitude, either by ripping up a sign and reversing the order of the words to read "Coldplay Loves USA," or performing a special encore. Since the band has added a special second date in Philadelphia on the tour, we at the coldplaying.com message board feel it is only right to continue this Philly tradition by once again presenting the band with signs. We ask that everyone please participate by holding up their sign after they perform the last song of the encore. Thank you very much and enjoy the show! Sincerely, The Philly Sign Crew I also feel like we should mention something about Oxfam possibly.

Philly Sign Gang Thread!!!! [2008]
I was kinda thinking we could have a supplement and staple them to the front of each sign. Of course it would be more to print, etc. But I think those of us who said they would help pass out but not print should be in charge of that. The show starts at 7:30, so I was thinking maybe if we showed up extra early, we could have a group of staplers to put the supplements on there. That way the audience will know what's going on and there'll be better instructions as to when to hold the signs up. I'd be happy to write up a letter to attach. What does everybody think? Dave

also, you know what would be cool? is if we actually cover the ENTIRE arena. Upper sections and all. I think the band would keel over! I'm thinking big, I know... Dave

We did that last time, too, though. If we could print on the backs it would AWESOME. OR even staple a note to the front. I'd be totally willing to get there early to help do that and stuff. I could even write up a nice letter. I think we need to explain the purpose for the signs themselves. Go all the way back to 2006 and explain then. But I know it's alot of work... Dave

How are we going to go about making sure people hold up signs, though? I feel like they should come with letters explaining about them on the back. Would that be too much work? Dave

A Brilliant Idea!!!!!
I personally think they should call their perfume "Ode To Deodorant" Dave

They should record a new version of Lost!
Haha. I don't think they'd have to do much to the song other than add the choir. Just add them to the choruses and oohs/ahhs as backing vocals. Dave

I would offer to help, I really would...but like I said, I'll be up at school. A) I can't travel with that many signs B) I won't have the ink/paper to print that many signs and C) I won't have the money to buy the paper/ink (I'm a college student after all!) Sorry :( But we're Coldplay fans! We can figure this out! Dave

They should record a new version of Lost!
Haha. I was just listening to the song, and adding a gospel choir to the song would be awesome. It would take it to a whole new level! Dave

We really should do it, though. This needs to become a solid Philly tradition! Dave

They should record a new version of Lost!
With a gospel choir. It would sound AMAZING. Anyone agree? Dave

I will DEFINITELY be able to help pass out signs this time around. But unfortunately I can't print any out; I'll be at college. But if we're going to do this again (we really should!), count me in! Dave

'Lost' third single due on 8th september ?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure What If? was actually released. I'm currently looking at the CD single as we speak. And White Shadows was radio only...so technically it's not "unofficial" but close enough. Radios can technically play whatever they want, so... BTW, does anyone know if there were any promos pressed? Dave

Well an ABSOLUTELY ideal set would be completely changed around. Mine would look like: STAGE: Life In Technicolor Violet Hill White Shadows Cemeteries Of London Speed Of Sound 42 Yes Strawberry Swing Trouble -- SIDE STAGE: Chinese Sleep Chant God Put A Smile Upon Your Face (Remix - Full Song) -- BACK TO STAGE: Talk (Starts out as album version, but turns into remix) Yellow Everything's Not Lost Warning Sign -- ACOUSTIC: The Scientist Death Will Never Conquer -- BACK TO SAGE: Clocks Lost! In My Place Fix You Death And All His Friends -- ENCORE: Politik Viva La Vida Lovers In Japan If they did that set, I would shit my pants. Dave

Do you think we can get another special encore out of them? Dave

For me, I'll die if they do White Shadows. But that's a long shot. Personally, although I genuinely love every song on the album (and I'm not just saying that), I think they can take out some of the album tracks this time around and replace them. Personally, Yes and Strawberry Swing can go. And also, God Put A Smile sould get the ax, too. It's such a half-assed performance. At least do the whole song, give it a build, etc. So I'd say kick it to the curb. An ideal set for me would be: Life In Technicolor Violet Hill Clocks In My Place Viva La Vida Cemeteries Of London 42 Trouble Fix You Warning Sign Chinese Sleep Chant Whte Shadows Speed Of Sound Yellow Lost! The Scientist (Acoustic) Death Will Never Conquer Politik Lovers In Japan Death And All His Friends And that's just with substituting songs in and out. I'd still change the order around a bit. (Spread out the singles...). Oh, and just a side note...I mis-spelt "Life In Technicolor" as "Live In Tehnicolor" at first. Wouldn't that be an awesome name for the DVD? Dave

Section 5, Row 15. AMAZING seats. Same exact row that I sat in last time they came and it was brilliant. They weren't RIGHT up in their faces, but I could CLEARLY see everything. But the best part of it is that it's litterally dead center in the arena. I've got the crowd singing on every side of me (very litterally!), so the sound is amazing. Just hearing the audience during Fix You itself made me almost cry! But when The Scientist came on and it was just so simple and everything, I could hear the entire arena just singing the words at the top of their lungs...all I can say is that it was a moment in time I will never forget. So to have the same seats again? I'm blessed. Dave

Haha. I was in the 100s, too, don't worry. Still a great time, though. And I hear ya about the stress. I didn't even sleep last night in fear of sleeping in to 10:01! Dave
