  1. This is actually really good. It's progressive for Coldplay... very outside of their comfort zone. Rihanna is much more prominent than I expected, but it works. You gotta look at the song objectively and realie that it makes sense that way. I'm sure the Chris-solo live version will be epic. I think this was a good move on their part. Rihanna is out of her element, too. Dave
  2. "Charlie Brown" is too obvious. It's a nice song and very catchy, but it doesn't really bring anything new to the table like "Paradise" does. It's better to leave it for 3rd or 4th single. Dave
  3. I loved it from the first listen. It's an absolute production masterpiece. I do wish there was more elaborative lyrical content, but that's my only issue. I don't understand why anyone thinks this is "pop." It's miles from it. If anything it's an continuation of the sound they created with 'Viva.' This is a direct decendant of "Lost!" and "Yes." But it's growth. I love "classic" Coldplay as much as the rest of you, but they've been there and done that. No good band has EVER made the same album twice. Coldplay are striving to be different and go places they've never been. And they are! But clearly they haven't forgotten about who they are. This is distinctly Coldplay without actually being a carbon copy of their previous work. If you don't like "Paradise" because it just doesn't appeal to you, that's FINE. If you don't like it cause you think they're going "pop" ...well then you're just way off. Let the band evolve, please. Dave
  4. The sense of entitlement so many Coldplay fans have is astonishing. First of all, no-one has heard the song. Second of all, we have no idea what her contribution to the song will even be. It might just be backing vocals for all we know. Coldplay isn't "our" band. We're just fans. We don't own them or control them or decide what THEIR art should be. If you don't like the music, move on. It's up to them to decide what to do. If this is the decision they made, then we have to respect it. They've worked with other popular artists before... Jay-Z, Kylie... and the output was respectable at very least. You gotta trust them. And if you don't like it? Well that's life. Dave
  5. That was the best "Life Is For Living" I've ever heard. Dave
  6. My guess is "Us Against The World" swapped out for something new. Dave
  7. I'm watching from my iPhone. Can't believe iTunes won't let me watch! Dave
  8. Probably the best Coldplay video ever, in my opinion. It was great. I wish the rest of the band were in it, but whatever. I could watch that a million times and not get sick of it. Loved it. 9. I don't think Robert Plant and Alison Krauss deserved anything, to be honest. But that's life, and that's the Grammys. Coldplay were definitely not ignored. They won a major category, and that's something to be really proud of! Their performance was also stellar! I'm proud of them and happy that they were rewarded for their hard work! Let's watch the song and the album rise once again!!! (btw...Viva La Vida the song has not EVER been out of the top-40 on the Hot 100 since it's release... that's 35+ weeks. That's pretty incredible. I certainly don't think it'll drop this week!) Dave
  10. Won their first for Pop Performance by Duo or Group for "Viva" WOOT!!! Dave
  11. I saw Lovers In Japan at 4 AM once...does that count? Dave
  12. Wow. Best video they've made!!! I love the reaction to the first explosion. Hahaha!!! Great job, boys! Hope it helps the single!!!! Dave
  13. I JUST HEARD THIS ON THE RADIO TODAY...I LOVE IT!!! Dave
  14. I kind of think that they'll win 2-3 and perform Viva La Vida. Wish they'd get all 7 and perform something really cool...but... it's more realistic. I just hope they win one of the major categories (pulling for album of the year!) I don't think they'll get totally snubbed like India.Arie, but I'm trying to keep things logical. Dave
  15. Good song. Shouldn't've been a single. I remember I was LIVID when it was announced because I wanted White Shadows so badly! I love the tour version, though. I would say that out of all the tracks on Coldplay's 4 albums, this would be one of the few "fillers." Not to say it's a bad song (cos it's not)...but I really don't see much appeal to it. Dave
  16. Honestly, I think it's pure coincidence. I don't think Coldplay knew Joe's song and were even "inspired" by it. The fact that only the SUNG verses are similar to a guitar part is a little iffy to me. It's not the bulk on the song. It's not the instrumentation, or the chorus, or anything. Just the verses. Which, of course, is enough to be considered plagiarism. However, it's not note for not identical, so there is SOME room for argument. It's one of those "too close for comfort" things. It could really go either way, depending on the jury. I can see where Joe is coming from, they are similar, but his timing is REALLY iffy. The song's been out for a WHILE now. Why now? Conveniently after the song is nominated the most prestigious awards in the business. Awards that, if he had his name in the writing credits, would earn him Grammys. And if not, would prevent them from winning. So that MIGHT work against him. There's no real way to predict the outcome of this one, unfortunately! I just hope this doesn't affect the Grammys! Dave
  17. It's actually the verses that are being accused. And this will be interesting how it plays out. They could lose ALOT of money over this, and their Grammys (at least for the track) could be at risk! Dave
  18. They're performing Viva La Vida. Maybe Lovers In Japan if it catches on...but they won't do anything too random, honestly. Maybe Viva accompanied with a string quartet? Dave
  19. I think they'll win like 3-4. One of the big ones hopefully. They DEF won't lose them all. They'll at LEAST get the rock categories. So happy!!!!! Dave
  20. FUCK YES COLDPLAY!!!! I THINK THEY'VE GOT IT IN THE BAG! Dave
  21.
