Bell X1 flame is now out in UK!!!!!!!!!!!! Gave it 4 stars out of 5 Stephen Gilliver DADDY Gilliver offers me few musical recommendations this side of the seventies, so when he drew my attention to a gifted young Irish band called Bell X1 supporting The Magic Numbers on their Spring 2005 tour I naturally took note. A year on, and having conquered the charts in their native land, said act is mounting a serious challenge to the UK's resistance. A headline tour in April is preceded by the release of their second long-player Flock on March 30. Endowed with an infectious disco feel by a bouncy bass line, latest single and album taster Flame is packed full of promise. With a catchy chorus that is pure Talking Heads, quirky lines about toasting marshmallows, and a wonderfully ragged rabble-rousing sing-and clap-along outro, it is the sound of a highly assured outfit synergising genuine songwriting flair with studio nous. STILL ones to watch out for.
