  2. Must say, I think it's awesome. Agreed that the vocals aren't particularly strong, but I think the style is brilliant! And whoever mentioned Natasha Beddingfield covering The Scientist, that was about 200 times better than Avril Lavigne's monstrosity...
  3. Sadly a lot of bands with big sounds do this. I believe above Muse have been mentioned (don't get me wrong, Muse and Coldplay are my two favourite bands), but the amount of synthesizers that Muse employ is quite large. I mean he doesn't play the synths in Bliss, or Take A Bow! (Though in one of their live recordings I did see Dom fiddling with something at the beginning of TAB, but it is not physically possible to do the synths at the end AND play drums). I think a fair bit of VLV is looped from the beginning, or there would be little point in pretending to do it. That may sound naive but Radiohead do the same thing in Idioteque (or at least have when I've seen them they have!).
  4. Oh come on, that was a TERRIBLE pun! lol. I suppose Pink Floyd's material is more sedate, but what the hell, if Coldplay put on a show that involves a plane crashing into a wall... I'll have no complaints!
  5. Yeah I know there's a huge difference... unless... ok, let's just pray that Coldplay put on a show of Floydian proportions, then everyone'll leave happy. Well, I know I would!
  6. lol Beximus, sorry if it sounded like I was being a really preachy bastard with the pedestal comment: I assumed due to your picture of Peter Griffin you'd get the Family Guy reference! Oh well. I think their SHOULD be an option for the exact reason you seem to be querying: people DO want the option! Surely the point of a gig is to showcase the band's songs live to entertain the people? Before you say this is obviously possible with a seating gig (was Pink Floyd's "Pulse" seated? I think so, anyone confirm it?) there are, as has been shown by the reaction on this and other coldplay forums, many people who would derive MORE ENJOYMENT from the gig if they had the possibility of standing up and bouncing around. Again, I know some people will say that you can of course stand up next to your seat, and believe me I will be, but as far as I am concerned, it's just not the same. The option should have been there exactly BECAUSE I (and others) want it there. A tour should be for the fans. A last note: this is my opinion; up for discussion, not obeyance! lol
  7. Is it lonely up there on your pedestal, Beximus? As articulate and wittily sarcastic your response was, the point the other people were making was obvious. There SHOULD have been a possibility to buy standing tickets, certainly for a band such as Coldplay. They're not the heaviest band in the world or anything but, as has been shown by this thread, there are a lot of fans who would like to see them whilst standing up. I know we can all stand by our chairs but it's not the same at all. On another note, if you stop being so pedantic about grammar, the point xXGarfieldXx makes about having an equal chance to stand up is not contradictory at all. He/She is saying that, IF YOU TAKE TIME OUT OF THE EQUATION ("depending on if you're there early enough") you have an equal chance of making it to the front. Fans should have the option of standing for a gig such as this. Tbh, they should have that option for pretty much any gig!
  8. I was there, it was amazing! But trouble was much earlier in the set, they finished with Talk!! Trouble came between God Put A Smile Upon Your Face and X&Y. But yeah, what a set! Anyone have a recording of the set, either audio or video? If so could they post a link here? Cheers
