Never said it wasn't. Jay-Z doesn't live in the hood anymore. So he's not rapping about that. But when he was living in the hood and selling crack, that was the content of his music. And many others who come from that environment. That's what hip-hop was. An outlet for people who came from that. As opposed to videogames and movies and cartoons with violence in them? If you're gonna go there, you can't limit it at rap music or music in general. The fact of the matter is that it's unavoidable. The only thing a parent can do is teach their kid right from wrong. And with that instilled in them, listening to a rap song with swearing in it or watching an action movie with somebody's head being blown off won't make them want to emulate it. That's good parenting, IMO.

He's four years old. Kids like what they like. Also, so what if he listens to Jay-Z. I grew up listening to Nas and Wu-Tang Clan who had way more hardcore songs than 99 Problems. His music is far less "hood" than it used to be.
