  2. thats bob dylan - the man in me
  3. in general: The man in me will do nearly any task, And as for compensation, there's little he would ask. Take a woman like you To get through to the man in me. Storm clouds are raging all around my door, I think to myself I might not take it any more. Take a woman like your kind To find the man in me. But, oh, what a wonderful feeling Just to know that you are near, Sets my a heart a-reeling From my toes up to my ears. The man in me will hide sometimes to keep from bein' seen, But that's just because he doesn't want to turn into some machine. Took a woman like you To get through to the man in me.

  10. yeah siddartha is awesome, and have you read damian?
  11. good to hear.. i'm sure i'll enjoy it. have you read siddartha?
  12. wow, man that's awesome!!!!! you have no idea how much that means, really... because the things you have mentioned are good are the things i was really going for... especially the 'alternatrance' thing, great term! :D yep, self-taught- i agree, it's a much more natural way to learn, it makes songwriters less restricted i find... and it's so good to see someone pick up on the unusual chords!! as for playing live- that's something i'm building up to- i have a confidence problem... but it's one i'm intending to overcome soon :) a problem with me is, a lot of my material has about 4 guitar parts playing simultaneously so there's no way they could be stripped down to just one acoustic part.. so i'm having to rework all songs which could work live, it's a bit of a drudge... but that's what i'm doing at the moment... i'm putting out a cd at the moment, a 6 track demo which i will use to start getting gigs and to get people listening to the work i've done so far... until then, i'll keep writing and trying things out :) thankyou SO much for taking the time to listen and comment in such detail, that's really the kind of feedback that makes a difference :)
  13. i'd give it a ten :) sit down stand up is probably my favourite :)
  14. i remember getting some pictures back from development and there was strangely one of a two headed chicken...
  15. *directs topic away from the realms of other music* anyone else done any impulse buying of late?
  16. and amanda, hail to the thief is awesome, i'd heard it all anyway, but that's not the point! i don't think it exists to fill the gap between ok computer and kid a at all... i think it is a more refined version of the new exigent direction which they've taken... sometimes the most challenging material can bring the greatest rewards! i think hail to the thief could become one of the most important albums of all time... radiohead have always meant a hell of a lot to me, and in my opinion they're the greatest band of all time. not the most important band of all time- that has to go to the beatles, no question about it, but radiohead to me is just magic. this has been the album i've looked forward to more than any other, because i'd utterly lost all patience with the current state of music, but here come radiohead, and now things are really falling into place- this album has been hyped and built up, and now it's here, it certainly doesn't disappoint... i wouldn't say that this album is by far their best, but it stands up next to all of the other ones without looking weak- but this time it feels like they've got that magic formula- the creative genius made accessible to the masses :)
  17. haha... except i usually make these mini sprees once every couple of days...
  18. there'll be no cool clothes left in toronto when you two have finished with it!
  19. once in a while... today i bought the special edition hail to the thief, the new mogwai album, 3 bob dylan albums, the new grandaddy album... and three books... hesse's steppenwolf, sartre's the age of reason and huxley's crome yellow... some bargains though- the dylan albums cost £16 for the three, and the books were from the charity shop so cost a total of a whopping £5.50... what's more, turns out the new mogwai album had a hidden treat- when you put it in your cd-rom drive it includes a demo of the latest version of cubase on which you can edit and mix the first track of the album 8)
  20. with me, i made the best friends in my halls of residence... i voted yes

i'm gonna have to try buying another mic cable first- i'm pretty sure that won't be the problem as it was brand new, but i need to make sure before i start making a stink about it on ebay...
